I'm closer to 10, we lost so many close games this year. Tidying up our 3 pt shooting, free throws, clutch shots would have made a world of difference even with the other injuries.

i see this, too. they survived this once. i'm a little surprised that they didn't budge on contract negotiations, though. they had to know this would come again. he wants that contract. i'm sure riley, rob, and maybe others have gotten word to kyrie via back channels that they're interested in talking extension.

dallas and miami will definitely be in, imo. not sure either will offer much in the way of talent. could see dallas offering wood, hardaway, and whatever picks they can muster. they also have DFS, bullock, and josh green, though i'm guessing green and DFS would be held out of initial talks. miami doesn't have much to offer, imo. lowry's deal extends past this year, and he hasn't looked great.

yeah, i don't think luka and kyrie would get along at all.

THIS. us potentially having other options only helps us. "look, bro, we can send both picks and get kyrie. you want both for mike conley or whatever. come back when you're sober."

this is why you don't just spend them on whatever.

ooh, not a fan of the hypothetical move, but he most certainly solves the shooting problem, imo. guys who can handle and shoot like him create all sorts of havoc for defenses. you don't even really need another good shooter out there with him. AD and lebron would suddenly have all kinds of room to operate.

He's a hell of a talent. We'd be terrifying if we add him to the mix.

To pump the brakes a bit, even if we do a Russ/Kyrie trade the overwhelming likelihood is we do not win a title this year. Teams outside the Top 3 seeds do not win titles, it’s happened twice in 76 years. We’d be ALL in on next season, after 25ish games of integrating Kyrie and another offseason to find the right pieces around LeBron/AD/Kyrie/Reaves/Rui/Christie.

Yeah, I wanted not to go overboard, but I think that's possible too.

Even games we win, like the recent Indy game... He s*** 2-16, 0-5 from three. If we had someone who can make shots we don't have to coin flip for wins in the final seconds. Some games maybe we blow it open so we can rest guys at times.

had a brain fart a minute ago: dinwiddie and wood are a salary match. it would keep the nets relevant short-term, too.

So Denver, Sacramento and Memphis would still somehow be favored in a 7 game series over the Lakers? Seriously. Just because they happen to be top 3 right now? NO

Kyrie is perfectly capable of integrating in the amount of time we have left. The twice in 76 years stat is nonsense, it so rare that a critical needed piece is added at the deadline. We were a couple of games away from winning the championship in 2008 adding Pau (and lost to one of the first big 3 teams) and that was with a big 2. Kyrie and Lebron are a proven commodity and adding AD certainly isn't going to hurt.

I can see Dallas grabbing kyrie

    Kyrie/kief for Finney smith/tim. Hardways/Bertrand's/wood

    Works money wise :ADGlance:

Trading Westbrook for Kyrie from a shooting perspective is absolutely huge IMO.

    From deep:
    Kyrie - 37% on 348 attempts
    Westbrook - 28% on 203 attempts

42% more attempts, nearly 10% higher success rate.

dinwiddie, too. dallas has a lot of options for the nets. problem is that kyrie may not be interested in staying on there.

Didn't Lebron get to the Finals out of the top 3 his last year in Cleveland? I know he didn't win, but damn, there aren't any Steph, Klay, KD and Draymond caliber teams in the East.

I can't see Cuban wanting Kyrie based on the off the court stuff and I definitely would not think Kyrie would want to be in Texas but I suppose we will see.

Kyrie's threat of not resigning is going to be the key. No one will want to give up assets and have him walk after half a season.

Looking at it, the Mavs have their '24, '26 & '28 FRPs available to use, that's not good. Not so sure the Nets would like the incoming contracts though.

There’s a ton of drama in LA already you don’t want to add more distractions to a team facing uphill battle in the playoff race. Hard pass on Kyrie if there’s 1st round picks involved
