I prefer some of the role players that we have all discussed on here but I have no doubt we will make a push for Kyrie.

I do wonder out loud if some of the teams that have been playing hard ball might be more willing to deal in good faith with the threat of us trading for Kyrie out there.

Kyrie Irving is a bonafide, Finals proven baller, I'd give up whatever they asked for, and resign him to the max asap.

    I'm thinking. 4 team trade lal/Utah/bk/Indy

    Russ//gay/-indy
    Kyrie/hield-lal
    Conley/Beasley/sexton-bkn
    Utah-b simmons/lonnie

Add any picks and players to make contracts work

Yeah. Its high risk and high reward to me.

Kyrie playing like he has this season gets us over the hump and does give us a legit shot at the title which is what the front office wants.

I would have pulled the trigger on this trade over the summer too,, word was that Rob balked at the extension. Who knows if that was true or not

How so? If he wants out because he wants a new contract ..... You don't risk your pro career for playing w out a contract

Yup, high risk and high reward.

Could see him elevating us to a championship team… Could also see us being too far back in the standings and still end up missing the playoffs (or losing in a competitive play-in involving good teams like Phoenix/GS) and then Kyrie just decides to retire to Antarctica to become a whaler or something.

But I’m on my way to Vegas right now, so I’m in a gambling mood! Do it Rob!

… Kyrie is a great player, but I don’t see why what I said warrants this response. If you trade the 2 picks for Kyrie, and it goes bad, we are SCREWED. Nobody will give up anything for him if he demands out of LA. And what if he walks and doesn’t re-sign because he gets some wild hair up his a**? This dude is NUTS, he ruins every team he goes to, again, he is FOURTH in the East right now and wants out, he’s unserious, I’m not interested in a guy who doesn’t care about winning first.

We still have our picks after trading for Russ, we wouldn’t after trading for Kyrie. Even if Russ just expires, we still have the picks. That sets us back more, giving everything up for this clown. It’s an attractive thing in theory, he’s a big name, he’s a great player, but again, IMO, it wouldn’t be wise.

Yeah. I read somewhere that we had the fourth easiest strength of schedule in the west for the rest of the season. I didn't fact check that, but if we do have an easy road ahead a move like this could be the thing that fuels a real run at the title.

They would have to gut that roster a 5 for 2 type trade to even . Make it work and they don't have picks

That's why we would work out an extension prior to the trade, which I'm sure the Lakers would probably want to do.

The team may be 4th, but you're not looking at why he's asking out. The Nets are trying to lowball him because of what he has done earlier in the year - and that's not sitting well with him, nor is it actually fair to use all that against him in contract talks.

The Nets also know that other teams are not going to pony up for him - but Kyrie knows that if he's traded, he retains bird rights and he'll get paid what his fair market value actually is. Brooklyn is playing a dangerous game right now - and I think Kyrie just called their bluff.

I know all the risks of Kyrie - but that's exactly why you TAKE that risk ESPECIALLY when we have a pick swap this year AND we're losing our pick outright next week possibly (or in 2025, Pels choice).

Kyrie/AD significantly raises the bar for this team even post-LeBron. You have to go for it especially if it means GETTING RID OF RUSS so we never have to see him play in crunchtime again...this is not even addition by subtraction...it's multiplication by subtraction.

p.s. sorry weezy I shouldn't have said "what ar eyou smoking" let my emotions get the best of me we've always had the same thoughts on almost everything Lakers this might be the first time I've ever really disagreed with you like this!

I think if we do go and get Kyrie, we should get some of their other players too while unloading our other expiring contracts.

I'd get Ben Simmons and Royce O'Neale while we're at it. Unload Russ, Bev and Walker. Or I'd do Seth Curry, Royce O'Neale and Harris along with Kyrie and we ship out Bev/Walker/Russ/Jones. Something like that.

We can't just do an even swap of Russ/Kyrie...get their other guys too that address our weaknesses.

Lastly 0- the Clippers don't have anything to offer to get Kyrie, luckily for us.

The Nets might have to sell off KD and Kyrie at the deadline...maybe to the Suns and the Lakers?

    Boy what a mess man...
