we can agree to terms and execute the deal when we get space, in theory (this is how the AD trade went down, actually). the snag is that we can't just absorb a salary outright, as we don't have a max slot. so i'm pretty sure that having the three picks is meant for deals involving s&ts, or just to have for later in the year in case someone decides to blow things up.

to me, we need to get some solid players on good contracts--where we were before the russ trade. with that and picks, you can be in a lot of trade conversations. we sort of have neither right now.

I hope we’re making calls too. If we let OG go to Phoenix or Memphis we may regret it.

how do you intend to stop it? they have more picks and viable players to deal. we can be easily outbid here.

Dang. My dreams are never that detailed. Your subconscious is aware of the NBA salary cap.

I don't think so. I haven't heard any credible sources saying this and you're talking sign & trades, hard caps, and a whole lotta tampering and behind-closed-doors dealings.

Naw AD is not salary they would use. Just vanquish that thought. We would only entertain dumping AD if he was so bad that his value wouldn't bring back much anyways.

No I think short of a deadline deal where we can extend some salaries beyond this off-season regardless of the cap (still very possible), we would let everything drop off the books and use what we have to sign role players and mostly to resign what we have.

We don’t have enough to get Anunoby, but looking at his recent injury history that doesn’t bother me too much. 2 years ago he played 43 games, last year he played 48. This year he’s been better at already 45, but he’s out with a “wrist injury” right now, so..
I saw another trade suggested elsewhere that was a little interesting, Beasley Vanderbilt, Conley for Russ and a first.

Yeah it was a weird dream. It was just before I woke up and at first I thought it had really happened and I heard it on the radio or something because of the detail level. No way it happens but I was excited to get the Eagle back for a moment.

No matter what we do or don't do this year, we might regret it, LOL. Sad, but true. That's the situation we're in right now.

They can distribute it by their players. I heard some time ago that a team did it last year or at least recently. Never heard it before though
I can imagine this same conversation from people that want to trade our current picks for any random guy about Luka, Tatum, Booker, SGA in a few years... "Why are we letting them go to Miami??"...the answer is the same

That three FRP idea for this kid, is totally unrealistic. So is two IMO, he's a nice wing player, but his value is way overestimated.

i've been on the russ/conley train since the summer and never got off it. you're right about anunoby being injury prone, too, and we're particularly unforgiving about that around here...

i've found that these radio guys are often more plugged in than the bloggers...by a country mile.

they won't get three. they'll get 1 + a good young player or 2, imo.

i'm also not sure he's going, tbh. very curious to see masai work this week. what's he going to do about FVV? that's a tough one, man. and after elevating barnes above anunoby and siakam, value-wise, you've had to take a big step back there. the choices they have to make over the next six months will have major implications for the direction of the franchise. we'll see if masai is the golden boy or if he just kinda rode a wave for a while.

    Yep, Toronto is a mind#$%.
They are both one piece away of contending (they have a great 5, players wise) but lack a superstar talent) as they can blow it because none is that star and are all but Barnes either expiring this year or next year.
    What would you do?

There's also no superstars available. I don't think LaVine changes much for them. Or Beal. If they are even available. Best is probably trading the expires for what they can, go to the lottery and see what the future brings.
Market seems very narrow this year. They could end up being a perfect suitor for Russ if they go that route. I'm rooting for them to lose every game from this road trip, apparently they'll take a decision after.

FVV will probably be overpaid next contract but is probably the guy that best fits our needs on our LeBron window. I think he ends up in the Clippers because money is no problem for them

i'd be surprised if the suns don't tear it all down after this season, so going all in seems like a definite possibility. i wonder what they could get in a trade involving ayton

yeah, i'm annoyed by the fact that the clips are probably going to just add fvv for nothing at the deadline. he's not great, and he'll be vastly overpaid this summer, but as a third guy on offense...yowzers. nice if you can afford it.

not much if folks are paying attention. he's limited offensively and is actually often a minus on defense, too. they needed to move him before they got to RFA. that was a big miscalculation that may have sunk them. but paul just being old probably was going to do that anyway.

Now hold on Weezy, you told me earlier this year that the Utah trade I wanted to go through for Bogdanovich, Conley and Gay plus a Utah first for Russ and our two FRP's was a horrible idea! LOL. Abeer3 was the on that from the get go.

What’s more valuable though? 3 first round picks around 25-30 or 2 first round picks in the top 10 and some seconds?

I’m not sold that we are out of it. I think 2 of our picks are just as if not more valuable than 3 of Phoenix or Memphis’.
