san antonio still hasn't used its spaced under the minimum salary requirement. they could pull an indy and use it to sign poeltl. or they could use it to absorb salary for goodies.

Bev has definitely turned it around after a slow start from three, but he's only at 3.6 attempts from three per game. Lonnie is shooting 38% at 5.3 attempts per game, so he and Bev are a combined 8.9 attempts per game. If you trade both of them and some second rounders for Hield, well Hield is at 43% on, coincidentally, 8.9 attempts per game. We'd basically replace, or improve, the three-point shooting of Bev and Lonnie with Hield, while also opening up the possibility of playing some bigger lineups. At the end of the day, they may be shooting well but if we make the playoffs defenses are going to dare Bev and Lonnie to take and make threes at a high volume. They will not take that chance with Hield because they know he can do it.

All that said, I wholeheartedly agree that Russ should be the first piece to move.

I think we should trade both, but given the choice of Bev or Russ, I'm trading Russ.

Here's what that stat doesn't take into account. Teams will leave Bev wide the F open. Teams will often do the same with Walker. Sure, they can shoot right now. But make no mistake, no teams sees them as shooters. They don't scheme for them as shooters. And they don't guard them or close out on them like they're shooters. I don't care if Bojan is shooting 25% and Bev is shooting 75%, the opponent's defense will look completely different with Bojan on the court.

Any pick for CP3 is crazy business. It will hunt us the whole decade. It doesn't give us any shooting or size in the wings which are our major needs, there's really no point of doing that

i'm not on the "we must trade" bandwagon, but i think that just throwing up bev and walker's percentages and comparing them to actual shooters like bojan and hield isn't appropriate. we're definitely "adding shooting" with a bojan or hield type, even if we send out two guys who are shooting a high percentage. because, again, people don't guard bev. people have to stay in bojan's shirt at all times, though, which changes the offense for everyone else.

i do think that as the season's gone on, bev has become more valuable to us, too. he basically looks like the guy we were expecting after the first 10 games or so. would i move him for a clear upgrade? oh yes. would i attach a 1st...gets dicier and depends on the return.

i wonder if the price for just hield might be a couple 2nds right now. mathurin's the heir apparent at sg, and they still have duarte behind him, and nesmith is also playing 20+mpg for them. they could get bev to slot in for their playoff push as a defender/vet leader, then have a ton of space next summer to work with while keeping the important parts of their core intact.

I mean I agree I just can’t take watching Russ anymore, he’s killing this team. Trade him for shooters if possible. Trade all of them, just trade Russ too.

It’s not that deep man, I was just hating on Russ for fun because I can’t stand him anymore. I’m a hardcore hater :Lebronsmoking:

    minny gets top-5 protected 2027 1st from us, charlotte gets phx's 2023 lotto-protected 1st.

phx gets booker's buddy, minny gets a guy under contract (can't bolt in FA) and can slot in as a starter at lower cost, charlotte gets a pick and loses a guy who plays the same position as their franchise guy and a guy they're probably not going to re-sign anyway.

lakers get their big name and a real chance to make noise, albeit a "completely fraught with injury peril" chance. but a chance.

note that paul's contract is fully non-guaranteed in 24-25 and only guaranteed for 15 the year prior.

so this would be an all-in move for this year and next year that could be completely dissolved the following year.

i could be talked into it. paul would have to ask for it, though. and minny might need more compensation that i wouldn't want to give.

Schroder and Reaves pretty much have to close cause they are our only two reliable FT shooters. Dropped 3 games in part because we couldn't knock down FTs. Schroder especially has been perfect in those situations.

Gabriel is a perfect bench 4 and it's up to Ham to use him and not DNP him. Max is a fantastic prospect but he's 19 and he's absolutely not ready for prime time in the playoffs - he's a rookie. He's maybe a 12th guy. I want a starter instead of Bev and/or Brown and even Walker.

I'm not trading Reaves unless it's for a star. I have no idea what any of the sellers will accept at this point. I just point out that JTA and Jones are guys who aren't doing anything for us and so for salary purpose and just having no role, it would be nice to move them with Bev instead of Walker who could be a solid bench scorer. If we focus on a SF, I'd like to keep Walker if possible. If we go after a SG then Walker is dispensable. I do like him though.

If so, abeer3 was correct. Too bad if so. Would have really liked to revisit that Indy trade for him and Hield. Well, maybe Hield is available still for Bev, Walker and seconds. Would be a decent upgrade move.

I, personally, just my opinion, don’t think Hield for Bev and Walker upgrades us anymore. Mainly because Russ is still here, he’s the main issue for me. It gives us some shooting for sure, but it makes our defense worse, and it doesn’t address our depth and size issues. If it was one of multiple moves and Russ being traded for more were next, sure, but if that’s our last move, I don’t think it moves the needle enough.

Kevin Pritchard: "We see this as the beginning of a nice core...not a great core..."

    After all, we are Indiana.

yeah...what the f*** was that? is this what the rob haters want at the press conference. it's like the anti-manna from heaven!

first, myles is trying to answer the question, then pritchard just talks over him into submission and drops that gem.

i got money that says pritchard wasn't the brains behind this extension, btw. it's too smart, and he's a self-aggrandizing d******.

The only reason that I would want CPFlop is the off chance that there will be an ownership change:LLLLLebronlaughing:The guy is an ownership kryptonite.

I have yet to read anyone say Bev + Walker are "shooters". I have also yet to read anyone say they are "feared' or "guarded" or anything like that because of their shooting or compare them specifically to those who are "guarded" or "feared".

It is factual that Beverley over the last 25 games or so has become our best 3 pt shooter percentage wise and over the course of the year Walker has been the best. Those are factual statements.

So of course it would be logical to suggest that it isn't ideal to trade our best 2 long distance shooters when we are looking to add to what we have.
