Because playing with Lebron, Hield isn't going to get up as many shots as people think. Lebron doesn't actually need anyone to space the floor for him with their outside shot anyway. Russ and Turner would be a lot more impactful than Turner and Hield, because all Hield can do is shoot.

So far everyone from the Pistons to the [Charlotte] Hornets to [Los Angeles] Clippers and [Utah] Jazz has expressed an interest in LeVert,” Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reported. “And yes, even the Lakers have kicked around the idea of a LeVert trade in their scanning of rival rosters in their search for more help, sources told Hoops Wire. (In fact, it’s been said that LeVert is a favorite of LeBron James.)”

yeah we've seen how impactful Russ's play is with Lebron. Basically, the best thing he does is stand there until it's his turn to have the ball.

cleveland could actually use a pat bev, tbh. bev/walker/top-10 protected 1st in 2027 maybe? levert's a big injury risk, but would fit in really well here, imo.

could see cleveland maybe preferring christie be added...

one thing to consider in any trade for a sg is that we have reaves and christie at that spot. no sense in having three. so if you have a very good sg coming in, you have to consider moving one of the young guys. which is icky, but...

Wow, picks for LeVert? I'm not sure how much better he is than Lonnie, to be honest. He doesn't improve our shooting nor defense. He's having a subpar season in Cleveland, even considering some games missed by Garland/Mitchell which would pump his numbers.

    41% FG - yuck
    72% FT - double yuck
    Then 12/4/4 with 1.6 threes a game and 0.8stls

I don't see why would we do that trade

Not moving either. For all we know Maxy's gonna be a nice defensive 2/3. These cost an arm and a leg. AR can be a 1/2 with nice D. You get another 1/2 and you are set (since Rui can play some 3 vs bigger dudes).

No need for a trade aside from getting rid of Russ. So Turner would have been ideal.

yeah, i'm just sort of pointing out that it's unlikely we're going to just "add" good players at this point. it's going to cost. what's comfortable.

i don't want to move max or reaves, but if the alternative is letting them walk like caruso in a year or sooner...

i'm good with us saying that the sg position is fine with reaves and christie going forward, though. but that means we need impact players at the 1, 3, or (maybe) 5.

so bev/walker packages need to be aimed there.

Well if Caruso is worth 2 FRP, we should get at least 1FRP and a 2nd for Austin.

his value in trade is probably about that, yes. again, i don't want to trade him or christie, but i'm guessing folks are asking us for them, and some of the better available options play the same position as these guys. and neither is a 1 or a 3. they're both 2s.

We should sell our assets high like everyone else. I like Austin but a FRP and a 2nd is a fair exchange.

again, who knows. but there's a lot of "teams want a good, young, cost-controlled player and/or a pick" talk. we have two of each.

Per NBA Twitter GS smoked Toronto and hunting Trent to end the game. For all the Onunomby talk no one seems to want to give up what the Raptors want for him and the Lakers picks are more valuable

We don't need Turner now that we have traded for Hachimura. We are now 5-deep in the front court with AD, LeBron, Rui, Gabriel and Bryant.

It is almost like some posters here simply don't see what is truly our weakness and it continues to be shooting, specifically from distance.

We lack perimeter defense and perimeter shooting....period. You simply can't trade for good defensive wings- so obviously the thing we need is shooting, yet some just won't accept this reality.

We are dead last in 3-pt made per game, 26th in the league in attempts and 26th in the league in %.

If we were just middle of the pack with this, we would probably be leading the West right now instead of being 23-26 and in 13th place.

Mind-boggling how people can watch these games and not see how having that threat would make things night and day different, as well as the complete understanding that when you have so many ISO players with the ball (which is what James, Westbrook and Dennis are) that SPACING and being able to hit the outside shot are IMPERATIVE for consistent success. Hell, even AD is an ISO player. The ball is going to be in those 4 guys hands a huge majority of the time- at least until the Lakers realize they are better served without one of them, specifically Westbrook.

There is nothing necessary wrong with having all of them be ISO players IF THEY CAN SHOOT- but AD has all but erased that from his game, LeBron is having his worse season ever from distance, Schroeder has never been really good at it and Westbrook is dismal at it.

Lakers need to get Reaves and Walker back as soon as possible to see what they truly have. Would love for Ham to sacrifice his love affair with PatBev, Dennis and RW and give those two serious minutes upon their return. Austin is a capable ball handler and Walker's athleticism would be a plus along with Rui's. Those two are also currently the only decent shooters on the team (Walker 2.1/38% and AR 1.3/36%)

I will be the first one to say this and that is if the Lakers are somehow able to trade for a VOLUME SHOOTER before Feb 9th then we can contend this season (obviously assuming we remain healthy- particularly AD). If they can add two good ones (neither volume) then I also like our chances.

We shouldn't be looking to trade Lonnie Walker but I would be willing to do so (packaged with PatBev) for a difference making shooter and we shouldn't be looking to trade Reaves at all (dont see any realistic targets that would make us needing to include him)

If AD doesn't miss 20 games, we'd be at the top of the West too. The teams with all this better shooting and spacing, are in a similar position to us in the standings. We have played a ton of games without 3 of our best offensive players, so I would imagine that shooting would be some type of issue.

I'd like to see how we look with AD and Walker, on the court for the next 5 or 6 games. Myles Turner is on another level as a player than Bryant and Gabriel, it isn't even close on defense, and he's a more reliable offensive option than both, and he can actually fit next to AD on offense.

For our team, there isn't a shooter available, that would impact our playoff winning chances, more than Myles Turner IMO.

I don't think there is a team in the West that would beat us in a 7 game series, due to their 3 pt shooting.

However, to Weezy’s point, if Indy did become a seller after all at the deadline I would revisit the Hield and Turner trade. 2 FRP’s for Turner alone is too steep for a FA to be, but both he and Hield have played great this season and together I no longer feel like it’s an overpay.

Logic just doesn't add up with this statement. We actually have a worse winning percentage with AD (12-14, .462) than we do without him (11-12. .478) but somehow we would be 23-0 in those games he missed instead? Did you realize that is what we would have to have been to be first in the West when writing that insane comment?? (it would put us EXACTLY one game better than the Nuggets at 35-14- they are 34-15)

Myles Turner would be a nice plus, no doubt about it- but it isn't changing our perimeter problems with our guards and of course would eat into the minutes of Hachimura and Bryant as well. Yes, he is hitting a career-best 39% (but was a career 35% shooter throughout his career) and making 1.6 per game- but he isnt a difference maker out there and he would only make things worse (unless you think AD is somehow finally going to find his shot again) when it comes to our ISO guards (and you HAVE to have two out there at all times in the West or those players will eat you alive from distance).

You are of course talking about the defensive part of his game, and I can't argue that point, as I do believe that would help us immensely; but the time to have done that was before trading for Hachimura. Now doing so would lessen the minutes of your new wing guy and basically eliminate any and all of Bryant and Gabriel's, something I dont think they are looking to do after making the Wizards trade.

You could do plenty worse than a 5-headed frontcourt of AD, LeBron, Rui, Bryant and Gabriel, I think we are fine there (if we remain healthy). What I don't like is our current 5-headed guard group that is PatBev, Westbrook, Reaves, Walker and Schroeder and it isn't really rocket science to realize which 2-3 need to be upgraded on...and that upgrade is WITHOUT A DOUBT the ability to shoot the damn thing

    Lebron/Dennis/Bev
    Buddy/Austin/Walker/Pip
    Rui/Brown/JTA/Christie
    AD/Gabriel/Cole
    Turner/Bryant/Jones

That’s win now and keep nice, cost controlled young players.
