they'd want a 1st. could possibly re-route duarte to a third team for one.

I'm not so sure about DeRozan. With LeBron-Hachimura-AD as the starting front court, DeRozan would have to guard 2s. He's never been very good at doing so, hence why he's largely defended opposing 3s in Chicago and San Antonio. With a strong defensive frontcourt maybe that's not as much of an issue. Offensively, though, he poses some of the same fit concerns as Russ. He's not a spot up threat when LeBron has the ball and allows the defense to collapse on LeBron/AD P&Rs. We'd need someone who was a viable spot-up threat and solid on-ball defender at the 1. The Pat Bev of a few years ago would have been perfect, but I don't think he or anyone of our other guards are that guy right now.

DeRozan is a very good player, but I don't think he's the guy I want for both picks. LaVine is a WAY better fit offensively, but the knee issues scare me and the contract is massive. For Russ + both picks, I think I say no to DeRozan and a tepid yes to LaVine.

Indy is about to lose Turner for nothing so don't be so sure of this. Do you hear about offers out there for him? Most teams that may have an interest would rather just try and get him in FA and not burn assets that they don't have to. I think our offer was a single FRP and a bunch of seconds (and Russ). I don't think we've hit them with a 2 FRP offer yet (just a guess). Hield's deal is generally considered a bit of an overpay.

Yup, just confirmed it, our offer did not include 2 FRPs. It may not have included any FRPs.
    https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketb...-turner-s-reported-rejection-pacers-extension

So the big question on our end before giving up 1 or 2 FRPs is what it's going to take to resign Myles. He already rejected an extension from Indy (don't know the amount). I mean if this guy wants 30 or something close we are not his team and we've thrown away our assets. Who knows what small market teams may throw at him, I mean look what Mini did to get Gobert and that was a disaster for them. There was a definite effect on the market from that trade and it has now gone the other way. People saw Mini get burned badly so FRPs are back to coming at a real premium.

I think the Rui trade (and the fact that other available players are NOT already being moved for the first round compensation their teams have been seeking) means the market has already reset. Plus if the Gobert trade inflated the market, the evidence that it isn’t quite working out for Minnesota has got to deflate the market.

I think with Rui making it tougher to operate under the cap, we definitely should make another move (or two)… but there’s no rush to do so anymore.

Let’s integrate AD and Rui and see how things go, meanwhile there are still a few weeks until the deadline.

Once time is almost out and these sellers realize they’ll have to lower their asking price or risk being left holding the bag, I think we’ll have our choice of a few decent trades involving only a protected first (or maybe even another trade where we only have to send out multiple seconds).

Having already filled a position of need while maintaining our first round picks and our largest expiring contracts, I think we’re in very good shape

yeah, we (now famously) never offered 2 1sts--the question was whether we could even be sure it would be accepted.

the reason i said they may do a talent for talent deal is that indy can't attract FAs, so having space isn't that helpful to them. anunoby wants out of toronto. toronto wants turner. not all trades are good players for picks and contract filler.

I’m hoping Houston has a heart and buys out Eric Gordon. Would love to see that guy getting clean wide open looks from Lebron.

I could see this getting ugly. Since the documentary thing Kyrie has kept quiet, played well and the team has put it together, but the Nets aren't just going to forget about how much of a headache its been with him the last few years. We're not sitting there with $30 million in cap space as an alternative anymore, the rest of the teams with cap space are pretty bad. Durant will want them to pay Kyrie but the Nets will probably feel like they can play hard ball with him given the lack of other options. They probably get something done but Kyrie will ask for something near the max at first.

It would be incredible if the Nets still had to pivot to a Kyrie trade despite how they've turned their season around because they can't agree on an extension for Kyrie. It's not going to happen, and I'm not sure I'd even want it to happen, but Russ/Bev/2027 and 2029 FRPS unprotected for Kyrie/Harris/Warren would make us a legit contender given the usual health reservations.

I guess I needed to put a wink or laughing guy on it. Since no picks were involved per @KareemtheGreat33 's joke, at least I took it as a joke with NO picks involved .... the thought we could get AC back along with Lavine or DeRozan is of course silly. But my bad things don't always translate well on line. Smileys for clues help.

you can want out of places for reasons other than geography or lifestyle. OG doesn't get to demand a short list of locations. he played college in indiana, too, btw.

actually, we are. i don't want that, but we've done nothing to impact our space.

and the whole kyrie thing got kicked off because they couldn't agree on an extension before. i'll be surprised if they can this time. but the nets also won the staring contest in round 1, so they probably just wait him out this time, too.

Lol, I'm so desperate for the Lakers to make moves since my Chargers embarrassed themselves again that the sarcasm went right over my head.

Naw, he's from London, used to the big city. College, if you can, you need to pick a good b-ball school, Hoosier's basketball is Big Ten, hell of a program. Easy choice. OG can say he'll resign in a big market but not otherwise. He's only got one season left on his deal. He can say what he wants to. Admittedly Indy could still take a chance on him for 1 year, Turner is gone with the wind so it's better than nothing and they can try to convince OG to resign. But future FRPs from a franchise that is probably in the bottom end of the lotto @ that point is a viable commodity. + they can do what they want with Westbrook. Problem is Herb Simon who is as old as Methuselah, he may not care about future as he doesn't have much of one left.

Another factor is Turner has shown he has great interest where he lands. He could tell the Raptors to stay away. May not be interested in paying heightened taxes to play in the snow.

Been hearing about Westbrook for Poetl/Richardson/Mcdermott more the last few days.

I want Westbrook traded as much as the next man, but not sure this one moves the needle, plus Pop isn't doing the Lakers any favors so I'm sure he'll require at least a FRP.
