Meh..these guys just pump out content that they think the fans want to hear. A lot of Lakers fans want some big trade to go down, so these guys are just feeding that sentiment with their speculations. Like I said before, most folks aren't going to remember how much these guys get wrong from season to season. They will jump right onto the next hot take, that they are inclined to agree with, in the next season. It's like weather forecasting, there is no penalty for being wrong. It's actually a pretty sweet gig.

I’m not a Mannix fan but to my knowledge Beck calls it pretty straight.

I'm with you in that it's silly to raise a pitchfork over this. I would still try to get off his contract if only for the fact that it's beneficial for cap space - but that's looking at the extreme edges.

Have to say I’m really happy we didn’t do the Russ trades with Charlotte or Utah Jazz that some people were talking about.

Conley (38%FG and 35% from 3) and Gay (36%FG and 23% from 3) are finished while Beasley is slumping real bad and just chucking. Clarkson is ok, but he’s just chucking on a bad team.

The Charlotte trade that package isn’t fairing much better. Rozier has completely lost his shot, Hayward has been seriously injured again, Kelly Oubre Jr is chucking on a bad team to give you 20 points on considerably worse efficiency than Russ. PJ Washington is ok, but he isn’t very efficient and doesn’t rebound well.

Still haven’t seen any good packages for Russ.

^^^ Russ virtually untradable with his salary without getting bad contracts in return

Detroit trade works—- Beverley, Nunn, Walker and Jones 1 unprotected and 1 protected 1st for Bogey, Noel and Sadiq 2 2nd rounders.

Then we have space for the next Mike Smrek, Myers Leonard.

The Charlotte trade would be good. I wouldn't make anything of Rozier having a down shooting year. He had to be the focal point of the offense for much of the season, with Ball and Bridges being out. He will regress back to the mean. He is only 28 and has proven to be a durable NBA player. Washington is not a good rebounder, but he spends most of his time on the perimeter, which would actually help us. He is only 24, and has also shown to be pretty durable. Westbrook/Jones. 2027 1st/2023 2nd for Rozier/Washington/Oubre/Plumlee would be an excellent deal. I also wonder if there is a way we could get both Van Vliet and Trent from Toronto. I wonder what that deal would look, or if we could even afford it in terms of hoping to stay under the luxury tax and re-sign Bryant with the MLE.

Not saying Conley and Gay have a lot left in the tank or Hayward isn't a walking injury this season BUT you have to be very careful evaluating players, especially vets in their 30s, on God awful tanking teams. The good is never as good as it looks, nor is the bad.

Should we sign the former #6 pick?

    2 way guard?

Every player should be playing offense and defense. Seems like such a meaningless phrase. And if players who play both sides of the floor are move valuable then those that don't, why is he available?

hahahahahahaha, just finished reading the WHOLE thing. 2 way contract. That's a little different.

But I suppose if the Atlanta Hawks and ditching a former lottery pick for nothing, that's not exactly a glowing report.

I’d do it. But I like Bogdanovic’s fit here a lot.

I’ve really come around on Bojan, I give up an unprotected first for him, I think adding him to this team is the sort of move that can turn the season around, plus you have him under contract next season. I don’t really care about Noel, I’d try to throw in Walker to get back Burks who is also under contract next season and is having a good year, 6’6 small forward, that’s 2 needs filled in one move. I’d probably throw in the other first if Bey were in the deal as well, that really rounds out the roster and IMO boosts us way up in the West. I can’t see it happening, but it’s something I’d love to see.

I’m glad you’ve come around on Bogdanovic, Weezy. He’s just such a great fit I think and not a bad contract either. I’m not a fan of Noel but if he’s coming in for Jones I’m cool with that. He’s more serviceable.

And simply the addition by subtraction of Pat Bev is a great perk of this trade as well. No more Ham putting him in the starting lineup, lol.

My hesitance before was based on feeling making any noise this season was out of reach, but the West is WIDE OPEN this season, and we own the #1 seed, only a few teams are bad matchups for us and worry me, like Memphis. I’m not interested in getting 1 big name for our picks, I want depth, and Detroit can offer that, OR it can just offer Bojan, multiple routes to take. I tried Bojan, Burks, and Bey for Bev, Nunn, Walker, Jones (and the picks), and it works in the trade machine. This gives us depth without even having to move Russ, he can remain and do his thing. But again, I understand this won’t happen, the FO is way too stuck on those picks and their perceived value, when in reality we’d likely not find a player better than Bojan for them, and we’d likely not draft a player better than someone like Bey should we use them.

I like that trade, though it crowds the front court a little bit. Still, it's a great trade. Bojan addresses the shooting issue. Bey addresses the big defensive wing issue, and ads youth. Both are on great deals.

I don’t know if I do the Bojan trade either. I would rather trade for FVV and Gary Trent Jr. Or OG by himself. I’d also kick the tires on a Myles Turner and Grant trade just for themselves. But the Bojan trade would round out the top 5 I guess.

i'm curious as to why people would want fvv and not rozier. imo, they're pretty similar, and rozier can be had cheaper and is under contract at a reasonable price, whereas fvv is up for what i'm sure he expects to be a big raise. they're the same age, both small guards who are primarily scorers.

fvv had a great year last year, and otherwise, their production and relative value is very similar.

Alright Rob, time to get on the horn. Let's go...

I don't think any of these concern us (remote possibility: ORL), but this was the next date of players becoming available. Theoretically, the additional optionality should drop asking prices a tad. Hopefully something comes out from Chicago and Washington about LaVine and Beal not going anywhere and we can proceed with realistic trades.
