i wanted dieng in the offseason. not sure if he'd be needed at this point with TB's emergence and gabriel playing well off the bench

he'd be an upgrade over jones i guess

He's no upgrade at all over Bryant or Gabriel, we don't even play Jones.

Don't mess with Bryant right now, kid is hot. He will destroy against bench players when AD returns.
    .673 on twos, .464 on threes....almost 7 boards in 21 minutes.

Yeah to be clear I definitely love what Thomas Bryant has been doing and want to continue to use him heavily while AD is out BUT I still think we need additional big man depth behind him since Jones is apparently unplayable. There are certain center matchups that Bryant may still be too undersized for.

Maybe Dieng isn’t that guy, but I do think we should take a look at SOMEONE for a 10 day contract. No harm, we have an open roster spot.

I agree. Rozier, 28 and Wasjington,24 are both young and are very good three-point shooters. They would improve the spacing for players that like to play in the paint/attack the basket, such as Lebron, AD, Walker, Reaves, Bryant, etc. Ideally, we could also send out Jones in the trade, since he is reportedly unplayable and is on the books for almost 3 million next season. Russ/Jones/JTA/2027 1st (top 4 protected)/2023 2nd (Bulls) for Rozier/Washington/Oubre/Plumlee works.

Yeah, I would not complain about that deal. We get some size and shooting, the team would definitely be more balanced that way. Rosier is the only longer contract, but he's the type of player we need anyway and his contract isn't horrible either. Others are either expiring AFAIK, or have team option.

Yeah but I was talking about Charlotte and I have visited the Tri-City and Charleston areas as well and as you have pointed out all these areas are pretty darned liberal. The slightly more rural areas are great but still subjected to the higher taxes that the more populated regions impose upon them. Some of the nicest people I have ever met are from North Carolina, I am not dumping on the whole state.

Not against a good big coming in but Bryant has 7'6" wings....undersized? I think he's fine against just about everyone.

Maybe undersized was the wrong word, but Bryant definitely has some defensive limitations when it comes to rim protection. We should try to address that and strengthen our interior depth if AD is going to remain out for a while.

here's a weird one: i woke up in the middle of a dream in which i was reading that the lakers were part of a three-team deal, and that towns, minny, and phx were involved. this just means i pay too much attention to nba basketball.

anyway, about that gorgui...bring him home!

In our budget and for what's available on the waiver wire anyone who is a rim protector will have other limitations. It's likely they won't be the offensive force that Bryant is so it's a compromise no matter what. He is an ok defender, he just doesn't have a nose for the ball like an AD but we are getting a lot out of the youngster and his deal with us. You're talking like a Myles Turner and we know what is required to get him. Rather be paying Bryant 2 million than Turner 20 million any day for what I'm getting.

man, that guy is the worst. it's like he actively hates logic.

i never saw it! i woke up!

before the season, if you eyeballed their stats, bryant looked like a poor man's turner. then turner showed up and started careering it in the contract year (again, beware). turner's a much better defender, though, in any case, and that's worth something.

i still wonder if he and AD would work together as well as many think, though. i also wonder whether the guy we really needed between lebron and AD was jerami grant or someone like that. we wanted him last year and just didn't have the assets.
