I remember that vividly and held it against him in my head for years for exactly what you are saying.

but I mean, we traded FOR Pat Bev, and have made many other questionable character signings in recent years, so nothing would surprise me.

and hey, 2nd chances blah blah blah

Don’t like the part that says “internally the Lakers weren’t united on the path forward”. Why is the FO so divided all the time, who is holding us back from deals. Anyway, don’t want DeRozan, Walker does essentially the same things when given the chance.

Short answer...Rob had one idea but Jeannie and Phil have another one. Jeannie(Phil) opinion trumps everyone else's.

Pincus floated Boogie's name in his piece too. Wonder how rusty he is.

if we're in AD surgery territory, i'm maybe considering giving up a pick in a vucevic/derozan trade.

lebron + shooting big + elite midrange scorer can win some regular season games.

i'd have to think more on it, but AD foot surgery for me means that the AD era is, for all intents and purposes, over.

may change my mind later, but if chicago was actually open to it, i thinking about it.

and again, i'm generally anti-AD trade, but i might quietly listen to bad/tanking teams that might think it's worth a gamble to give up some assets so that they can have a surgically repaired AD next year. like if chicago's actually thinking about blowing it up, would they send us a pick on top of vucevic and derozan? that's basically the kawhi leonard deal to toronto.

I think we're on the same page here. I mean, reluctantly... maybe we should really start listening to some offers for AD - if this injury requires surgery to fix. I'd take two good players and a pick... or one good player and two promising young prospects and a pick? Or some youngsters and two picks? I don't know, we can certainly talk about the details, but dealing with this problem every year is tough.

That's actually interesting. Only way for the Bulls to tank is to go as quickly as possible. They are only 4.5 games behind the bottom team, but there are 5/6 other teams running at it too. Their pick is top4 protected, so it's a huge gamble because even being the worst team gives you only 52,1% chances of getting a top4 pick. But to do it, is now.

A Lonzo-Lavine-AD-future top4 pick if not Wemby is a championship core, much better than any potential future they have with this group.
Downside: They have a ton of protections in the Magic/Spurs pick, so I guess they can only trade from the 2029 pick onwards, past beyond the LaVine/AD prime, so may be hard to sell, but who knows. We definitely have to get picks from any AD deal.

Also very important: in any Chicago deal, we need to demand Caruso

yeah, again, not eager to do something like that. but the FO has to be open to listening, particularly right now. if someone gave me a serious offer while he was going to be shelved for the rest of the year, i'd have to consider it.

that top-4 protection is a bear there...might be too risky for them to tank. didn't realize that's where the line was.
