i get being turned off by beal's contract. but when literally everyone in the press was basically begging for him to demand a trade out of basketball nowheresville, he didn't. to me, he should be nearly as beloved there as lillard is in portland, for similar reasons. i also think beal's more of a competitor than given credit for. not saying i want his contract; just saying washington should be careful what they wish for.
Great player when healthy. Because of his health issues, along with him Making $53 million and $57 million respectively during the last two years, I view his contract as the worst in the NBA.
damian lillard will be paid 58 and 63 million when he is 35 and 36 years old. beal will get 53 and 57 in his age 32 and 33 seasons (same calendar years). if you look at their trajectories, both were best about 3-4 years ago and have declined and been injured since. anyway, i'd say lillard is the worse contract, but everyone would be happy to trade for him, and portland fans love him.
If he were paired with a healthy AD and a good supporting cast, that’s a Championship team. Beal just doesn’t carry that weight.
i think you're thinking of lillard from four years ago (and every damn time he plays the lakers). actual lillard is much like actual beal right now, imo.
wizards fans hate beal's contract. they don't hate him as a player but the kuzma hate is odd. maybe they're butthurt over the fact that he wants out, but he's been their best player at times this season. can't blame those fans for being miserable though
