I think we actually need a starting C and backup PG more than a SF. Players under contract: D'Angelo/ Clarkson*/Jabari* Kobe/Young/Anthony Randle/Nance/Kelly Black/Sacre* *Team Option We have like 5 players that can play SF if you count Randle and Nance.
The new CBA doesn't make it tougher, it makes it impossible. In Sign and Trades players can't receive the 5th year or the maximum raises. They can only receive the same exact contract they could sign with the other team. The closest LMA can come to doing that is signing the 5 year max with max raises and then demanding a trade when he's eligible to be traded(I believe 1 year after signing the contract).
My rankings for this current FA class, with all things taken into account from need, age, fit. Tier 1: 1. Jimmy Butler 2. Khris Middleton/Draymond Green 3. DeAndre Jordan 4. Tobias Harris 5. Kevin Love 6. Lamarcus Aldridge 7. Brook Lopez 8. Greg Monroe Bargain Bin - Bigs: 1. Bismack Biyombo 2. Kosta Koufos 3. Omer Asik 4. Robin Lopez 5. Ed Davis 6. Tyson Chandler Bargain Bin - Wings: 1. K.J. McDaniels 2. Gerald Green 3. Aaron Afflalo 4. Mike Dunleavy
If we strike out in FA i still think biyombo is someone that fits what we need he's deandre jordan at a bargain price With the rest of the money we can fill up the rest of the roster with complementary pieces instead of old players on their last leg We need a backup pg backup sg and backup c better fhan sacre
afflalo couldn't have signed, jerry. can't even agree until after midnight tonight. also, Tyson chandler's not going to be in the bargain bin, folks. he's looking to get paid. assuming they miss out on Jordan, the mavs will keep Tyson's price pretty high.
Can't officially sign yet, but they are the frontrunners with that offer. I only had Afflalo ranked because I expected him to sign for something in the 6-8M range. 12 is crazy. That signing should take NY out of the running for Tobias Harris. Biyombo & K.J. McDaniels are 2 guys I think we should sign regardless of who we give a max contract. That is, as long as noone decides to overpay. They are 2 of the better young defenders at their respective positions. Bargain Bin probably wasn't the correct term. The Tier 1 list is all guys I expect to get max contracts, Bargain Bin is everyone else. I think Chandler will get around 3/36. Expected price was included in the criteria for my rankings, that's why Biyombo & McDaniels are at the top of their lists.
There is another tweet with a video of them asking him to come to LA, and Green says something like "Ya'll already getting LaMarcus, man."
http://www.csnnw.com/blazers/dorell-wright-unlikely-return-trail-blazers Dorell Wright rumored to eye the Lakers or Clippers (wants to come home). If we end up spending most of our FA $ on a big man, I wouldn't mind getting him on the super cheap. 29 years old and respectable from the outside.
If we strike out on all the big name PF's and C's were after, I'd be pretty interested in going after Tobias Harris for our SF spot. It let's Randle stay at PF, and then we can go after keeping Ed Davis or going after a different serviceable C that everyone keeps mentioning in Biyombo. I honestly don't think Durant is coming here next offseason, so I don't have concerns about signing a really good SF in Harris. I'd also rather go Harris/Davis than Jordan and nobody, or Brook Lopez, don't want him anywhere near our team.
Well if we can't get a big name this summer, there's really not even an outside chance we get Durant the next. I'd say screw it and go young and try to recapture what the Thunder did. Russell/Kobe/Harris/Randle/Davis and just go super young with Clarkson/Black off the bench. I mean screw it, we're not going to win many games but we'll be young and hungry and we'd challenge some teams. Think Oklahoma from 2008-2011 or so.
I don't think signing Harris would be striking out, I just meant if we strike out on all the bigs we're after. I think Harris has continued to show improvement in his game easy season, and unless I'm wrong his max contract is not crazy high. I'd like to watch the lineup that realdeal posted quite a bit, and I think if all those young guys start living up to their potential this season, we definitely look more attractive next offseason. I still want Aldridge, but if we don't get him there are plenty of other options.
