Biyombo now unrestricted. Harris possibly being available below the max, possibly as low as 10M. Milwaukee making multiple moves that make it seem like they won't match a max offer. LMA and Butler both supposedly interested in LA. Free Agency is looking much sexier than I thought it would.
I'm sure this has been mentioned before in this thread...but how awful would it be if Aldridge starts at pf and black starts at c? just assuming there's no wiggle room left after nabbing the big fish. I mean, Houston didn't look terrible with black starting in spots early last year. obviously not plan A, but hey, you do what you can. also, I don't expect harris to go for under the max, and I don't expect mil to let middleton walk at any price.
LT has been more less thinking along the same lines. It's certainly not ideal to me, but Tarik's numbers as a starter were above average actually. We'll see how it all goes though.
What will $4M get? Maybe Bismack. Will Ed Davis be willing to take that? Any other centers available in that range?
I just like seeing we're making pitches to every top FA out there. LA, Gasol, Jordan, Harris, Love, Monroe. We didn't land anyone last season, but I think we're gonna get one this time.
If you guarantee Davis a starting role and maybe clear just a little more cash by trading away Kelly and Sacre... I think you get Davis probably for the remainder even if he's looking for more cash. Starting for the Lakers next to Aldridge? Who wouldn't want to do that?
I'd really like for Ed to come back, he's the kind of player we need if we get LMA. Rebounds and defends even if he's not the tallest guy out there. Hopefully the fact that he kind of wants to come back to LA will help sway him into taking a little less money.
biyombo might take a one-year deal at 4 million in a high profile market with a possibility of starting. good way to boost value for next year.
Don't really blame Gasol. Every season Memphis seems to be so close to being a contender. Plus he's 30 already and might not want to be part of a rebuild. I realize Aldridge is about to be 30 as well, but his choices for a max deal seem to be limited, and Portland seems to have reached the limit of their potential. The report that Aldridge is leaning towards the Lakers kinda worries me though, every time we hear that it doesn't happen. Could be put out there to push the other teams to make a better pitch, or hurry and make moves to free money up for him.
do it Mitch! Vet mins all around...that'll combat us being such a young team. On a serious note, I'd welcome any of them as assistants except for Bowen.
LMA (18.8) Trade Young, Kelly, Nance, Sacre for non-guaranteed contracts (Haywood?) Harris (10) Biyombo (4) K.J. McDaniels (Room Exception) Let's go to war.
F*** it. Let's get Biyombo as our starting center if we get Aldridge. Plan B is Chandler+Harris. Russell/Clarkson Kobe/Clarkson/J.Brown Randle/Young/A.Brown Aldridge/Randle/Nance/Kelly Biyombo/Black/Upshaw
I didn't know the Rockets had the money for LA, but I didn't realize Josh Smith was a FA. I think they'd still have to make some other moves though, how could they afford Harden, Howard, and LA?
