yeah, but what if what we get is to sign two solid rotation players in FA next summer whilst holding onto our future picks and our favorite current players? or what if we just sign turner in FA and get to keep all our favorites and use the room exception?

whatever russ goes for this year has to beat what's possible in the summer, imo. i think rozier/oubre/plumlee type deals do that, but we don't know if they're being offered.

i don't get this. russ was playing better both times he fetched a pick. he played terribly last year and has been only ok this year. his only value is as an expiring contract. the return on those generally requires taking back unwanted salary. so, there are some cases in which simply NOT doing that is a win. as i said yesterday, dallas would GLADLY dump bertans and tim hardaway on us. but that's a huge loss. you'd rather let russ walk.

you're using an extreme example....he was statistically ok with Was but was not good with Beal and somehow we gave up a pick still. Hou got a pick even though Russ didn't work out in Hou and they took an equally atrocious contract in Wall with 2 yrs left on both guys deal. Its a fail IMO if he walks for nothing

wall missed the entire 19-20 season and played 32 games the season prior. he was clearly the worse contract and thus required the pick.

we absolutely do not need to get a pick in a russ deal unless we are taking back ugly salary, which we won't do.

Russ hasn’t been traded because teams are trying to gouge us for our young players and our two picks. What don’t you guys understand about that? It’s a terrible deal for us at the moment.

Glad the FO isn’t capitulating, like some of you.

thanks; felt like i was taking crazy pills for a bit there. i want us to be better, too, but that's not the path. and it may not be a short one.

The FO isn’t stupid enough not to trade Russ for 3 rotational players if that’s what the whole trade was.

Heck if it was Washington/Oubre/Rozier for Russ and a 1st that deal would be done already. Or if Turner was available for 1 pick. So we can use deduction to figure out that no simple deals that make us better are available.

After every loss this forum just goes into fight or flight mode.

no, the theory seems to be that we have all those options and are turning them down to antagonize the fans.

russ hasn't even been that bad this season. he's played a whole lot better than the disaster that was last season

this team's issue is obviously shooting, but the defense hasn't been great lately either

If Lebron played well this season we win last night and at least two more games and we are sitting 10-9. And your negative loving self is still complaining.

just basing on your take of lakers only needing bron/ad to contend....what am i complaining bout? this team is not built well n needs fixing, everyone here knew that from the jump, you know how teams can overcome their star "bad nights" by having competent role players?

i mean, we clearly need more than lebron and AD to win. but nobody's offering us what we need for russ. so here we are.

well rob been tossing 1st rd picks away since ad/james combo happened, why the change in his approach? not saying he shouldn't be cautious but clearly to me its beyond picks, they want cap space to chase the 3rd star still

he's moved one for schroder (good move, imo) and one for russ (we shouldn't have done that), right?

we don't have the space to chase a third star. it's literally impossible to do so with lebron and AD on the books at their cap figures.

now, they may prefer to hold the picks to chase a star in trade (kyrie, beal), and i don't love that, but it's not the same thing.

foregoing the ability to make other trades in order to get a moderate upgrade today is really dangerous.

I think you’re confusing me with Slick. I said the supporting cast can be built in many different ways around two top 10 players and it’s not so important if you lose a couple as long as you replace them. We’ve done ok at that this season, Lonnie, Schroeder, Bryant, Brown Jr, Gabriel are all good role players. We win last night and we’re 6-1 in the last 7. Now we’re 5-2, it’s not the end of the world if we keep winning at a 60-65% clip from here on out.

if goal isnt to win a chip than i can accept the non moves but seems like FO is confused themselves, they are selling us this team as a contender but same time continue to sign 1yr guys n l continue to look for that 3rd star trade....i dont buy that indy wanted 2 unprotected pick for hield/turner during off-season (but wouldn't surprise me if that's the asking price NOW)...beal/irving rumors would suggest they are still on the 3rd star train of thought

i dont hold your optimism for this team to win @65% rate going forward, there's only so many spur like team out there n you just know ad/bron going to get hurt again at some pt during the season

If they get hurt, no trade is saving you.

And if we can’t win at a 60% rate moving forward - which is 37-25 to round out the season, then we aren’t competing because our stars aren’t top 10 players anymore.
