mcgee's playing time was due to promises; powell's has been due to them being better when he plays--or at least when he first got back into the rotation.

i do think the wood situation is a weird one there. kidd doesn't trust him, and we're nearly 20 games in.

i think they're just frankly discussing realities.

    1. we wanted time to evaluate, so no trades super early. makes sense. also, being/appearing desperate is bad, as we found out all summer.
    2. december is when all possibilities open up.
    3. historically only a few trades are made then.

none of this is shocking to me, nor did i ever feel like there's some doomsday clock hanging in rob's office that he keeps moving the hands on.

I think we're all overthinking this, IMO.

Rob is aiming for a disgruntled star to move Russ and the picks. Essentially, he's aiming for a homerun if he moves the picks, which he should be.

If a smaller move comes, it will be in the form of Bev/Nunn and draft capital (second rounders) going out.

    Just my opinion.

Still think there’s the distinct possibility with these “new deadlines” being pushed into 2023 possibly that it’s all speculation and NOT inside information.

That’s all fine. Just think there are too many leaks.

I don’t think it’s speculation. Particularly given the reporters involved. There’s definitely people from the front office that push information to reporters.

We’ve done it before. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility now.

The front office can just keep leaking soft deadlines until we are past the trade deadline.

Didn’t he just write out in plain English that you quoted what quite possibly could be going on instead?

He just spelled it out. Reading comprehension problem? Unless these guys are naming names, how often is it just speculation, reasonably thought out, as to what “likely” may be happening and as well as the ever prevalent click bait possibilities.

if its a leak why would reporters release their source? so any reports w/o a source is not credible? who are the "source" that are claiming the Hield/Turner deal was available but Rob doesnt want to include picks?

You believe what you want to believe. Some don’t agree that the FO has any reason to be leaking s*** (or “everything” you read) with this much at stake. You don’t have to win every f****** point. All of the time frames and positions of strength and weaknesses of the Lakers position for trades …. “logically” exist whether leaked or not.

I was asking a serious question about turner/hield option as thats is something most here are believing is true even though no "source" has been tied to it.

Well none of “us” know for certain. But this back and forth above is about this deadline stuff. Why I put in parenthesis “everything” that gets written about what our FO is thinking or planning strategically.

The constantly moving deadline is our front office's version of "2 weeks away." Looking more and more like we're punting the season.

    Some other stuff out today:

Mavs are going to sign Kemba

Wood was discussed in the past couple pages. He's not playing because he's not a winning player and AWFUL on D. From one of Stein's pieces today...
Stein on Turner getting new representation
According to Stein, Old FAs not quite ready to join Dwight in Taiwan
