I would still offer Beverley, Nunn and a 1st for Turner. It allows us to save Russ for another deal that brings back some wings.

Have you seen the numbers Turner is putting up? There’s absolutely zero chance Indy looks at BevMo, Nunn, and only one first and say “Deal!” They don’t have Jimbo Buss running the GM duties over there.
I bet they would do it if we gave up Austin and another first though. I wouldn’t do it, but something like this makes more sense because they would want some real value in return.

either magic was drunk/high as f*** when he made that trade, or he did it out of spite (or both)

it's right up there with the russ trade as one of the worst in lakers history

What leverage does the Pacers really have here? Turner already declined an extension, and he's on an expiring contract. They can't just dictate where he goes because it's in their best interests. He has to agree to sign at the trade destination too, who would be dumb enough to give up assets for him if he doesn't?

It's all smoke...if he wants to be a Laker, he will be. Without being attached to Buddy Hield either, the Buddy stuff is all media speculation IMO.

Hield is not this " great fit ", folks are making him out to be IMO. All he can do is shoot. Turner though, he's a great fit next to AD, but he's no superstar caliber player at all. 1 FRP and salary matching for Myles...get er done Rob!

Why should we trade for him if we didn't plan on signing him to a long-term deal? That would be pretty stupid on our part. I'm sure his new deal will already be agreed upon before he gets traded.

If we had agreed to extend Kyrie, he would have already been a Laker by now

I agree and hence I don’t think we’ll trade for him because we aren’t sending out firsts if he wants 30m+ plus.

If he is happy to settle at 25m per. Then I can see us doing it.

As for Indiana, they may think they can reup him or get something of higher value than junk and a single first if he continues playing great.

This is a subjective take that he isn’t an all star caliber player. Because the other side of the argument is, Myles Turner is going to believe he is, so is his agent and Indiana will argue that he is. Everyone wants what’s best for them and not what’s best for the lakers.

i think the revelation that indy isn't interested in tanking is sort of crucial in all this. opens the door for a talent-for-talent trade for turner. they wanted all our picks because we were offering zero talent. now maybe some team offers them a prospect that they don't have room for to get turner. like toronto gives them one of their wings or something.

feel like it would require a third team due to the two teams' current positions and respective goals (neither has incentive to tank).

dallas would love to get off bertans and hardaway, but i don't think they want to move picks to do it, nor would we want to take those guys.

best i can come up with is bevs/nunn for bullock/mcgee. dallas does it because mcgee has been bad and is on the books for two years after this, bullock is having a terrible year, and they could use another ball handler/creator (which maybe nunn qualifies?). we get a credible center whom fans have (sort of nonsensically, imo) pined for since we traded him last and a 3 and d wing (who also forgot how to play in his last stint here). both former lakers, though, which seems important to our FO!

think the lakers turn that one down, though. there are several mavs who would look great here, but i don't think they want to move any of them.

i was wondering if they'd pick him up. as i said above, dallas has needed a credible third ballhandler since they let brunson walk. walker may fit the bill better than nunn would have and at a lower cost.

christian wood seems like he'd be a prime trade candidate for them

his minutes are way down for some reason and kidd has been starting guys like dwight powell or mcgee over him. not sure if he'd be a good fit on this team though. he can score but he's crap defensively
