    1. Check back in January if no changes have been made.

We know how this goes...matter of fact, take some screen shots.

It’s not a better roster. It’s an incomplete/unbalanced one because we didn’t make the trade with Russ. It’s clear that we need more and better shooting. Even Rob admitted that. The brain trust didn’t pull the trigger and was hoping to cover the holes when they did/do but t’s probably too little too late at this juncture at least for Russ. Now maybe it’s possible with our $20 million trash expirings in Nunn and BevMo. I hope so. I’d like to see some improvement in the roster sooner than later and it’s not going to happen with Russ until the deadline if then. When our big 3 played together with last year’s they were 11-10. Not great but currently they are what 2-8? I guess we shall see after some more games together but it doesn’t look so good.

The roster this year is better on paper.
This means absolutely nothing to me if it doesn’t equate to actual wins.
We all knew the only way to significantly improve this summer was to break Russ up into multiple players who could contribute to wins.
Am I happy that we didn’t give away both firsts for lopsided deals, just to get rid of Russ?
    Yes.
Am I happy that we don’t have a shrewd and intelligent GM who is capable of moving Russ without getting fleeced?
    No.
Now, thankfully, Russ has looked better offensively, which may or may not, open the opportunity for us to move him without giving up any firsts, but the fact remains: for this team to have a chance at success this season, Russ needed to be broken up into players who could fill glaring holes in our roster.
This did not happen and we are where we are because of it.

What trade would you have done that you think would be accepted by the other team?

    1. Utah(not sure, because of Ainge- maybe for one first)
Conley, Clarkson, Gay for Westbrick and Nunn
    2. Charlotte (think could have been done for one first)
    Hayward, Rozier, Plumlee for
    Westbrick, Jones, Nunn
    3. Spurs (maybe for a couple seconds)
    Poeltl, McDermott, Richardson for Westbrick
    4. Indy
Turner and filler without Buddy for Russ and one First.

This is all based on Rob somehow, uncharacteristically not getting fleeced.

right...we can imagine all we want. we KNOW the details of some offers, and i doubt any of this was ever possible based on what we know.

e.g., we know indy wasn't budging on one first, we know the spurs weren't sending poeltl without a first (or more) in return. we know utah turned down offers from us. charlotte, i'm not sure. but the point is: the deals weren't there UNLESS we felt like getting fleeced. we have a lot of fans who clearly wanted that (and then i guess wanted to whine for the next several years about that move, too).

All reports were saying that just to get Russ teams wanted one FRP.
So you're not getting Rozier, Poeltl or Turner without at least an extra one. And even those there were reports that were not enough

As for Utah, there were reports they didn't accept. Considering Ainge position about picks, I can't see him sending all those assets for no extra pick

I guess you have all the proper “insider” information based on being in on those conference calls.
    It’s all speculation.
It’s fine, I’m sure there are plenty of deals that the media never got wind of.
I’ve said it many times before: I WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN UP BOTH FIRSTS for any of the rumored deals.

I can guarantee that if we had a well respected GM, who knew what he was doing, one of these deals could have gone down with only giving up one First.
Anyone can counter argue, but show me a significant trade that Rob actually won.
    He hasn’t pulled one off.

no, i don't. and you don't. that's the point. you're trading in stuff you say could have happened when the only evidence we have indicates it probably couldn't have.

AD. the only real trade of consequence. we won by a country mile no matter what happens with it going forward.

the green/schroder trade was a win, too, imo.

the russ trade wasn't rob, and i'm not sure how to argue this anymore. it's public knowledge that our gm negotiated a separate deal and then had the shadow gm/agency trump that deal (pun intended).

otherwise, all bad pelinka deals had magic involved.

and rob definitely knows what he's doing. the name of this thread is an ironic testament to it, tbh. you may be right that nobody likes him, though. but i don't know if i want the gm everyone likes, anyway. supposedly the owners all like jeanie, and they work against our interests at every turn anyway.

The “evidence” you speak of is random speculation of folks who were never involved in ANY of the trade discussions. Speculation at best.

    The Green/Schroeder trade?
Nope, that was a fail. Although Green’s shooting numbers weren’t great during our Bubble run, he did start and contributed in other valuable ways. Schroeder never fit, was selfish, and couldn’t even make a post entry pass to save his life. He was an AWFUL fit.
Yes, we won the AD trade, but
Everyone knows Rob gave up too much. WE WERE THE ONLY TEAM AD would resign with. Any GM in the League could have made that no effort trade and given up way too much when they literally had ZERO bidding competition.
Rob was the GM who made the Westbrick trade. Nobody put a gun to his head. It was his job to tell the players that he’s not making a trade that will destroy the Franchises’ chances of competing for anything for TWO seasons.

Abeer and I can agree on one thing: Jeanie is the biggest problem.

We traded a a downward trending (overpaid imo) DG for the runner up sixth man of the year. The trade was a win. The failure came from someone in the front office promising him a starting role.

Yes, on paper it looked great.
But, I weigh a trade’s effectiveness on how the player actually worked out on the court. You can’t just consider it a win with just one of the factors being checked off.
Fit within the team, as we all know, is extremely important and Dennis just didn’t work out in this category. Anyone can throw a bunch of NBA talent on the floor together. What separates the good ones from the bad ones is the ability to foresee which players will mesh with one another and become great TOGETHER.

-the shroeder trade was bad, as he wasnt a good fit and we did NOT get anything from him after he left (the pick we traded turned into Bane a very good player, someone we could've actually build with)
-as for russ trade, as you stated its not Robs decision but it was his decision to approve/veto it, he chose to approve because he probably fears klutch....Hou got a pick for trading Russ, we might have to GIVE a pick to trade him away now
-constantly building a team of 1yr contract yr over yr is on him and its a bad strategy

Aside from the deal from Russ, sold by its two highest ranking clients in LeBron and AD, the relationship with Klutch has been, and hopefully will be in the future, very beneficial to the Lakers and brought us a championship ring with four (am I missing anyone?) of its clients having been on that squad with those same two superstars mainly responsible for the ring along with very good contributions squad wise from KCP and THT (per Vogel’s own mouth while there). The way people talk about all this deal with the devil stuff is misplaced IMO. They’re a very powerful agency with an ever increasing quality roster of clients. And Walker has been great for the money. Hopefully we find a way to keep him in LA.

People are allowed to have their own opinions of how Klutch has benefited and/or hurt the Lakers.
It’s obviously been a mixed bag.
The thing I can’t get behind is LeBronze’s piss poor attitude about the FO not doing enough when all I’ve seen year after year are teams full of Klutch clients and massive trades done on his behalf.
