what good does it do for the team to have 2 stars who are quite injury prone?

I predicted LeBron would get injured trying to carry this horrendous roster. Does that count? I predicted AD will as well eventually. It’s too much to ask of our stars to carry a bunch of guys that don’t look like NBA players at the moment and can’t shoot. Maybe if a trade for depth had been made in the off-season they hold up better from not having to carry as much, who knows.

See I don’t understand this line of thinking. Having a decent team, a competent team is enticing to stars when it’s free agency time. Do you think Shaq joins up in 96 if we were absolutely garbage like we are now? I don’t, but we already had a playoff team, a really good team that the fans were proud of that just needed more. Build that sort of thing now, again, and then we become more enticing to the Luka’s of the league if that’s who you want. As we are running things now I don’t even give us a pitch meeting if I’m a star free agent, we have no vision and no creativity.

Please... we are the LA Lakers, the biggest destination NBA team bar none. We have the top weather hands down, we have the quality of life, we have the endorsements, we have the global fan following, we have the celebrities and the big lights and we have the Kardashians. We'll have no problems recruiting stars, keep in mind when Kobe retired we had that ret@rd Jim Buss and $hit-for-brains Kupchak in there and they were not pitchmen. Mitch's pitch was "We're the Lakers, take whatever we are nice enough to give you". Whatever may be said about Pelinka lately, Rob is a pitchman to the fullest. He represented many agents all of whom loved the guy. He's maybe about the best closer of all the GMs in the league. The Lakers will be fine in that department.

This, we don't need all the other nonsense. I cannot stand us wearing purple at home or gold on the road.

I think it still can help, but it's 2022 and not 2002. In the day and age of social media and self branding, the benefits of being in LA are greatly flattened.

As a person who is a professional art director, I am offended by how uninspired and boring this design is.

It’s not good for basketball reasons, but because of the names, it’s good for business ones - for now…

I think Beverley for Crowder would work, and honestly that probably provides some better balance on the roster.

No chance I give up any additional assets though, not even a second rounder.

I’ve mentioned why I think standing pat might make sense, despite how excruciating it would be in the short term.

But I still think Klutch pushing for action is a good thing.

Even if only for the fact that it may accelerate both sides realizing that they’re not on the same page and that blowing it up/rebuilding makes more sense.

As long as this team tries to make a move to be an instant contender, they’ll never be one. It’s backwards thinking. The foundation must be laid before then. Our title team had a foundation, we already had LeBron KCP, Kuz, Caruso, McGee, and Rondo from the ‘18/‘19 season, all essential pieces to our title. We traded for AD, added Green, Bradley, Dwight after Cousins got hurt, Morris from a buyout, but the foundation was there. You’re not going to move Russ and 2 picks and become a title contender, and it’s insulting to fan intelligence to suggest such a move ever existed or could exist so let’s just not do anything. To what I see, the 3 rumored trades are better than anything 30 mil in cap space can get you next offseason, that’s maybe 2 KCP level players, one Wiggins level player MAYBE. And if it’s an All-Star caliber guy we are still stuck with 3 high paid players and all minimums again, the FO can’t see this!?

That’s awful. I saw one on Twitter with like the LA skyscrapers along the bottom and thought it was meh, but it was better than this. Still better than Charlotte though… what were they thinking?

Brutal contract, injury prone and he's not all that. If Kyrie is cheaper, he'd be the better get over Beal.

Was sitting in traffic when posting this, so I didn't expand on it but there's some interesting material in this worth breaking down...

    Bron/Klutch complaint filed #1

"Key players" = Klutch clients. Threats/warning of "souring" if nothing is done. Complaint #2.

Bron complaint #3: don't waste my time this year. "Other core players" = AD.

Translation: we're not trading the picks because we built a team that cannot compete and we cannot dig ourselves out of this hole. Oops.

This lines up with what Larsuel said yesterday that the coaching staff and members of the FO aren't aligned with what package they prefer (if they were ready to deal) between potential Indy, SA, and Charlotte options.

This week's mystery player.....Come on down!

Proof of concept is significant. Could open up other trade options. Maybe someone will see him as a suped up 6th man and not just a way to clean the books. Or if it doesn't open up another team, maybe it lowers the ask from a team like Charlotte.

Klutch is saying AD isn't going anywhere, he doesn't want to go, and no one has called about him.
