Expected, but still an important step before FA begins.

I guess that puts the Cousins trade to rest.

^ Not really. We have open cap space.

How will we match salaries though? Russell, Randle and Young?

We wouldn't have to match salaries if we have cap space. We could technically just absorb his salary completely. The problem is what do the Kings want in return for Cousins?

I'm very doubtful a Cousins trade happens, but it's not gone completely until we fill up our cap space and sign everyone to their contracts.

Wouldn't we still be able to trade Russell, Randle, Young 30 days after Russell signs?

Well sure, but I find it doubtful the Lakers trade their future if he's already sitting in a Laker uniform. In fact, the chances of Russell getting traded drop more and more with every second that goes by. The Lakers by all accounts love him. The more they see him, the less they'll want to move him. We're not the Cavaliers, we won't trade a guy who is making waves and getting the Laker brand some positive recognition again.

If we trade for Cousins at this point, I think it'd be for either Clarkson or Randle or both. I am extremely doubtful it'd be for Russell. Besides, I think Cousins ends up in Denver next month some time.

I see, I was hoping we trade Hill and future picks, but that ship has sailed. Our young core needs to stay.

The rumors out there are that the Lakers are willing to part with Russell for Cousins, and maybe Randle thrown in there. But I don't know about Sacto. I think they have to figure out just how disgruntled Cousins is.

I make this move if we were to land LMA. LMA with Cousins and Clarkson could be an absolute powerhouse. Throw in Durant next season and you are in serious business. That's a winner. That's worth giving up the youth movement IMO.

No LMA and I'm not so interested. If we lose out on LMA, I would rather go for Jordan or get a SF and a decent center instead.

We wont trade Russell for Cousins. The reason Okafor wasn't drafted was the Super Star potential of Russell. Trading Russell and Randle??? In a year or two that would go down as one of the worst trades of all time. We have young, talented, hard working players with good attitudes and almost limitless upside. Why get rid of all that for a headcase? I don't think people realize how good Clarkson, Russell and Randle are going to be. Not to mention all of the other young talent. If we can just be patient for a couple of seasons we will be contenders for the next decade.

I really liked Hill for his time here.

Remained professional despite the crappy lineup situations he's had to endure. He usually gave 100% every game and worked for everything. Hell, he even developed a decent 10-12 footer while here. All in all, I wouldn't mind him back at the right price if we had the spare change.
