This loss to Utah was the first truly bad game for our defense. I would hesitate to say, "Well, the Jazz's offense if really good..."

I don't think Utah has a great offense. They look better than I would have thought if you told me this season: no Donovan Mitchell. But our D was lazy.

Giving up 130 to Utah, at home, will, I hope, be seen as an anomaly.

Their shooting was actually outstanding though. Our offense wasn’t bad either so this falls mainly on our D.

I mean they had a 50/40/90 game as a team. It doesn’t happen often and they were shooting lights out for most of the game. Even when we defended possessions well, their hail Mary’s were finding the bottom of the net.

Yea, as soon as I started feeling like "Well, at least our D is Top 5" they stunk up the place on D and have done so ever since. We're 2-8 now with our next 5 games against Clips, then two days later Kings, then 2 days after that the Nets, then five (!) days after that the Pistons, followed by the Spurs two days after that.
    Clips
    Kings
    Nets
    Pistons
    Spurs

We MUST go at least 3-2 over those 5 games. That would put us at 5-10. Which sucks. If we do worse than 3-2, I'm almost ready to write off this season, TBH.

Oddly, we play the Spurs 3 times on a one-week span: WTF?

In the meantime, every minute I'm watching the games I've got an interior monologue that is pretty monotonous: "DEE-fense! DEE-fense!" (Also: "Someone please hit a 3? Fer crissake?"_

Ok, some optimism: We're Lakers fans and even if we're crap right now, that's a pretty darn blessing.

I was talking with a couple friends. One's a longtime Bucks fan and the other's a relatively longtime Grizzlies fan.

The conversation started out pretty much with me at the bottom and being kinda envious of them enjoying Giannis and being a contender and the growth of a guy like Ja Morant who looks pretty damn good. Conversation kept moving and the Bucks fan was talking about how blessed and lucky he was to get Giannis on his team and enjoy their championship year, and very casually, and with no intention to brag I was like "Yeah, I guess that's a good feeling. Those 6 rings I've celebrated have been pretty good". He was like "you lucky *********, 6 rings."

And then I think about it and it's pretty damn impressive. There's not many people who can say that have celebrated as many championships as we have. There's the Bulls fan who lived all 6 Jordan rings, there's the older Boston fans who were there for those 70s and 80s titles (plus the 2008 one, and of course some even older that were there for the 60s) and then there's the Warriors, but I don't think there're many fans out there from the 40s and 50s. Our biggest title drought was between 1955 and 1971, but at least we were a contender and a finalist for most of those years. We were right there competing.

We're, objectively speaking, by far the most relevant team in league history because we've pretty much always been right up there. Even when we were in Minneapolis.

We suck right now and we likely have a couple bad years ahead, but above all, it's still freaking fantastic to be a Lakers fan. And while it took as decades to recover from the 60s C Bags winning absolutely everything, right now there's no team with more rings than us, and everytime I think about how Boston now doesn't have more rings than us, it just brings a smile to my face.

    We're amazing.

    Needed some positive thinking.

Why the f*** would anybody up this to thread?

Why? Oh we're Lakers fans, we're so lucky, blah ah blah.

    Who gives a s***?

Stop upping the thread, IMO. We're 2-9 and the last 12 years have mostly sucked...good grief.

We haven’t even seen Schröder or Thomas Bryant yet, we’re potentially adding Snell, and if we win today we move to a full 1 game ahead of the worst record in the league.

What’s NOT to be optimistic about?
