With no 1st round pick from us? What is the Pacers’ motivation to do that for those 2 guys with the way Turner is playing at this stage of the season or even later?

No I was thinking 1 pick to the Pacers for Turner and you save the other 1st rounder for Westbrook move such as Charlotte

Myles and Buddy have never been worth 2 picks.

Gross overpay. He can shove it. So can the Pacers.

If we moved Russ, I'd explore that SAS deal. I think they'll be tanking and really push the pedal to the metal as the season progresses for Wenbemyama.

Poeltl makes no sense in Ham's system, imo.
And that deal doesn't help the Spurs avoiding the cap fine

I mean from what I heard he leaned toward not worth it in that clip. Said you have to look at the future, you want the most return for your assets, and he’s in the last year of his deal, so you have to look hard but he can’t say if you should pull the trigger. Basically sounded to me like “2 first round picks is a lot for an expiring player”. :D

I haven’t listened to the podcast yet but have read some quotes, and it sounds to me like he’s straight up pitching the trade. Here are the quotes I read from Reddit:

Sounds to me like he’s trying to sell himself as being a good fit with the Lakers, said the idea of being in a bigger market would be appealing, mentioned how from Indiana’s POV it would be too risky to not try to get assets for him since he could walk in free agency.

Not going to lie seeing him publicly push for the trade like this makes me more interested

Seems to me won’t make Indiana any more willing to help Lakers for Spite II the sequel with a key value player lobbying to come here after the original “PG” blockbuster, Spite.

He's right: as the season goes - Indiana loses leverages and risks the tank. Lakers need to tread water and they have a chance with Bev/nunn/westbrook to really pull a heist not with just one team but two.

I think he’d be a great fit here. As ever the main issue is that Indy is asking a steep price. Hield and Turner would be excellent but both FRP’s is a lot. If they would settle for one this would have been done months ago.

very interesting that turner is talking to woj about this, during the season.

i've said a few times that i think the beverley move was made in large part to scare some of our trade partners into negotiating in good faith, and this is what i'm talking about. we can throw you a single first and get you some extra cap space by taking hield (or not--if we just send bevs/nunn), or you can risk turner walking into our (or someone else's) cap space. he's not signing an extension because he's bound to his current contract, which i'm certain he and his agent think is below market value (they're right, even with the injuries). his extension is capped at 20 per to start, if i read the rules right. he's going to get 25 per to start in FA, minimum, imo.

we just need to start winning some games, and then i think even more options start to open up for us. hell, if russ looks good off the bench...all bets are off.

anyway, it's good for us that turner is publicly pushing to come here.

Last time a Pacer tried to publically push his way here didn't go to well...

But yeah if Russ accepts the bench role then we can still make a smaller move with Bev and Nunn. Those trades would be easier to do and won't cost us both frps

OK Myles, we're listening. You got our attention. :)

Seriously, I like when guys WANT to come play for the Lakers. And he's very confident: "You are under the microscope out there at the West, when you are doing bad you going to hear about it. When you are doing great you are going to get a lot of love, especially with the love that Lakers get... when you are out there, you gotta perform."

Trade Beverley and Jones(maybe even Bryant too) for Turner then. I'd rather see what Thomas looks like next month, he supposedly has a jumper that we haven't seen much of yet. Still..spraining an ankle in the pregame warm-ups tho? Just giving up 1 FRP for Myles Turner, remains a risky proposition IMO. That being said, Myles, AD and Gabriel, would be an excellent modern NBA big man trio. High risk-High reward trade idea, Rob would look great if AD and Turner stayed healthy for the bulk of the season. He'd get crucified tho if both ended up hurt by January.
