I mean, we could live in fantasy land like Rob and hope that some of these career sub par shooters somehow dramatically improve their shooting percentages.
Some will call this a “glass half full” approach.
I can’t, because that would just be giving in to nonsensical speak to cover over the fact that our GM failed to properly build a competent roster.
Since there are no sure and easy fixes to this mess, even if he would stupidly panic and give up both firsts for one of these packages that only helps us to a second round exit, maybe all we have is hope that some of these guys become dependable from long range.

And having Bryant as well working his way back to Washington form, along with Schroder couldn’t have hurt. Now both out at least a month with thumb ligament injuries. Someone somewhere has the voodoo doll stuffed full of pins for this team again.

The most frustrating part about this is that we put together a roster over the offseason that clearly needs a Russ trade to be complete, but now we're starting to hear the "we want to see this group perform before we make a trade" argument (not talking about any specific poster here). It's entirely self-sabotaging, and frankly seems like a thinly-veiled attempt by the FO to cover its own a** and excuse another wasted year. If we're like 2-12 you can bet this FO won't make any significant trade and act like their doing nothing is the most prudent path.

Man Hayward is really balling this season. You forget how good he was before the injuries hit: same tier as Paul George

It's a smart play if they are trying to maximize Lakers leverage and this is their excuse.

Westbrook deal and the opportunities they present will be much higher at the trade deadline.

And yes it's painful and with the Caruso deal no reason to trust the Lakers FO but it is what it is

What's bothersome is that guys like him and Siakam is what we both advocated for before the Westbrook trade. Just don't understand what AD and Lebron we're thinking: the injuries really skewed them into getting a guy who could eat regular season minutes. Instead it ate the roster.

i'm the anti-slick in that where he's on about injuries (which is indeed a legit claim), i'm on about the russ trade. all this stuff people want to have happen but can't has the same origin: one really bad trade that our stars orchestrated. it is what it is. it's over and done with. move forward. but don't act like shrewd mini mle pickups were the path out of this. never, no.

People can write what they want, they have that freedom. As I have it too if I want to criticize them

The problem here is purely expectations. The reality is:
    We are bad.
    We are awful
We are embarrassing shooting the ball
We are the mock of the league at the moment
This is where we are now. Harsh reality

Those are facts, so they should be the same for you and me.
Now, our reaction to it depends on how we approach it. For me, I wasn't expecting winning any of the games we played so far, apart from Portland. Maybe win at Minny but without AD, that's a loss. So in the end, for me, we are one win short of my expectation. Doesn't sound as bad as a 0-5.

And I have that expectation because we suck. We have a bad and cheap owner who made deals/decisions that harmed our roster. We made, possibly, the WORST deal in the history of SPORTS a year ago and that isn't salvageable. We have a guy with a terrible attitude, a constant MINUS when is on the floor and that is the absolute opposite of a fit to our biggest star... making max money. You CANNOT win in those conditions. It's just impossible to build any winning team with a guy that can't play eating 1/3 of your salary cap. Then, to help it, your 2nd biggest star comes from half a season out and starts this one already with injuries and unable to be himself when playing. Then you add your biggest star playing with 38y old and you can't see a path to success with that setup. You just can't. We had possibly the worst roster in our history last year. The 4 players with more games were Russ, Monk, Melo and Bradley. Two of them are out of the league, the other is a reserve in Sacramento and the remaining is Russ.

So since last year, that's where we are. So for me that's the baseline, my starting point when I analyze Lakers' performance this year and the work of Pelinka, Ham and the players.

And what I see is improvements in many areas.
A team with more useful and capable players.
    Top5 defense of the league.
Competing until the last minute in every game while shooting the worst possible in NBA. It's incredible how we have still been close to victories.

We have 11 (ELEVEN) new players in our roster that never played together before. With a coach that never worked with any of the players. It takes time to learn each other, get the system and for the coach to understand the best combinations.

It's completely unrealistic to expect us to win any of the games we lost apart from Portland (and we know why we lost that one). We played the champions, most stacked team of the league and a team with the current 2-time MVP. These teams, all have great rosters and continuity for multiple years. They are ahead of us in the quality of the roster and in chemistry and knowledge of colleagues and system.
Then, Minny is a game we could had a shot but with AD out, not even that. We still have outrebounded them which I believe is impressive and shows good signs.

No one likes to lose. And our shooting is troubling. But everything else has been an improvement and hopefully it will lead us to victories in the near future.

yeah, with pika on all this--what were the angry folks' expectations? that we were going to win a friday night road game at minny without AD? just because we were 0-4 before that?

i knew the first 7 games at minimum were going to be brutal. and here we are. will the rest of the season go that way? maybe. but it doesn't have to.

vegas said we'd win about 45 games. vegas said we'd be 1-4 instead of 0-5 right now. i'm sorta with vegas on all of it.

I'll say this: no one expected 3-pt shooting percentage of 23.7%. This is unheard of. Not even people who hate the Lakers expected THAT.
