Hield/Turner do not fill the huge whole we have in the large wing area like say, the Hornets can. Add to that Hield is not really a great 2-way nor that large of a wing and Turner's made of the same glass as AD.

I'd also throw the The Jazz into the mix as far as teams looking good, and outperforming expectations.

If Lebron can't take 3 HOF'ers to the Finals this year, he should never be heard in any goat conversations again as long as the youngest current living Laker fan lives.

Boy, if we moved Lebron and AD for scrubs, guarantee we would have the worst record in the league and get Wembanyama. Can you imagine the Lakers with the worst record and #1 pick. Do you really think the league would hope to keep them down?? Worst thing for the league ever. I am almost ready to go for it.

Disingenuous at best. We ALL KNOW that Westbrook is a big negative on this team. So far, nobody, not Lebron, not Davis, not Vogel and not Ham, has been able to find a winning role for him. For the Lakers, he is a net negative. The ONLY way Westbrook can be a positive for any team at all is if he is the primary playmaker. If he can control the tempo and who gets the ball and when, he can be partially successful. But he will never win a ring that way.

I wanted to like RW more than most, I am a UCLA fan and always want to see our guys from there succeed. But the writing is on the wall and we can see what people have been saying for years now, his stats were kind of less impactful than they should have been. Stat padding comments make he think about his legacy. Good player when you make him the focal point of your system but he will never get you over the hump.

In todays NBA, you have to be able to shoot at a reasonably high clip. He has never been able to do that and he has never been able to successfully take a second/third option place on the floor and produce.

He will be in the HOF but he will never be a great Laker and frankly he will never be a great player on a great team. He will lesson the impact of ANY great team. Those are facts.

Playing with Lebron is ....... frankly ......... stupid. Not that I could have totally predicted it, but looking at things now, you would think that Lebron and Rob would have thought about this. It was an extremely high risk signing that completely backfired on us.

I prefer the Hornets deal that includes Rozier. The Indy deal is not as perfect as many are making it out to be.
    • Turner is an expiring contract, so Lakers would likely need to commit to him long term. Probably at least 4years/80 million. Do the Lakers really want to commit that kind of money to their front court? It leaves them a bit unbalanced imo.
    • Turner's injury concerns.
    • Even though Turner is a very good three point shooter (for a center), he still floats around or slightly below league average. He isn't a high volume shooter either. P.J. Washington would make a greater impact in that starting line up in terms of three-point shooting.
    • AD might be better off just staying at center.
    • We just signed a bunch of centers anyway, one of them being a stretch 5 in Bryant.
    • Turner's shot blocking is nice to pair with AD's, but this is not he 1980's where players mostly drive to the basket. It is the three-point shooting era. Rim protection is not as important as it use to be.
    • Hield is one of the best shooters in the game, so he would be a good get, even though he has his flaws too. Probably not worth investing so much in Turner though and loosing the picks for it (compared to the Charlotte deal).
    Benefits of Hornet trade:
    • Rozier is a legitimate third scoring option.
    • Rozier quietly one of the best three-point shooters in the game the past few years.
    • Rozier is durable. Does not miss games much.
    • Rozier is comfortable plying off the ball and defending opposing PGs. Proven success doing this along side LeMelo.
    • When you compare paying Rozier 98 million for 4 years and paying Turner approx. 98 million over 5 years, Rozier is the better value in terms of both finances and fit. Money wise, salary is evenly distributed between forwards/centers/guards. Rozier's deal is not that bad when you consider his durability and what he provides.
    • Washington is a much better shooter than Turner. He is both higher percentage and higher volume. Washington also would cost about 50% less than Turner if you decide to keep him. So again, a much better value.
    • The Indy deal does not address the wing issue. Lakers could obtain Hayward or Oubre from Charlotte. This would help address that problem.
    • When you compare Rozier and Hield side by side, Rozier is the better player.
    • Lakers may be able to do a deal with Charlotte by including only one first.
So, basically in terms of fit for us:

    Rozier + Hayward + 2029 1st > Hield

    Washington > Turner

westbrook will be one of, if not the least talented HOF'er in recent memory

only reason he has all those triple doubles is because his teammates got out of the way so he could get rebounds

if it wasn't for his elite athleticism that he relied on 100% to allow him to drive to the hoop, he would've been out of the league after a few years

If we got the # pick this off-season it would go to the Pelicans. They have a swap with us this year. That’s why there’s zero incentive to punt the season, if we are worse than NO they are taking our pick.

    Yup.
For me, I like The Spurs deal either with or without Poetl.
I’m out on Any deal with Indy, but would be okay with any combo of a Hornets one. I actually would prefer to have Plumlee in there because from what I’ve seen from our two Centers, he’s an upgrade.

My God, just imagine if we gifted the Pelicans Wembanyama. Rob, Jeanie, and the Rambii would have to flee to a non extradition country.

If you trade for Hield/Turner your wings are LeBron and Anthony Davis. With Turner play 30+ minutes at center, AD is playing most of his minutes at the 4 and LeBron is playing most of his at the 3. Once Bryant is back you can play AD at the 4 full time, like he wants to. Everyone slots up a position. You don't lose any spacing playing bigger like that since they're replacing Russ, who's starting and shooting 8% from three. Turner has injury concerns but no more so that Hayward, whom I assume would be in any Hornets deal. I seriously doubt we'd be able to get Rozier/Oubre/Washington for less than both picks if we're not also taking on Hayward. As for the Jazz, none of the guys they have left interest me besides maybe Beasley.

I’m bummed we didn’t do the Jazz deal this summer. I would have liked Bogdanovic Conley and Gay for Russ, even sending both picks and getting one back for 2023. That one made sense to me. I like the Indy deal but not for both picks, only one. I like a Charlotte deal for Rozier Hayward and one more player. Most importantly I just want us to do something sooner than later. With a healthy Lebron and AD I feel we need to go all in now to be as good as we can. I don’t want to waste another season.

Something tells me that, if we had the players Utah has right now, they would not be able to hit anything.

This team was designed for that Indiana trade to happen, I can't emphasize this enough
    1) The coach comes with a system emphasizing a freak athlete at the 4 with a big wingspan next to rim protecting, 3 pt shooting 5 (Turner/Lopez, AD/Giannis)
    2) AD prefers to play the 4, the team is too small with him at the 5 but him at the 4 he can guard bigs/wings/guards and everyone as you noted slots down
    3) Team lacks shooting: both Hield and Turner are very good 3 pt shooters for their positions
    4) You have 4 or more potential guys to take over PG minutes: Bev/Nunn/Schroeder or Reaves/Lebron in a big finishing lineup
    5) Bev with AD/Myles helps make up Hield's defense issues
    6) The shooting allows you to play non spacing athletic guys like Walker and Brown.

Plus this trade works real well if you can move a guy like Nunn for Rudy gay

Amen brother. These guys are buying into what Ham is preaching, give Ham the right personnel to run the systems he wants to run. AD doesn't play with anything near the force Giannis does offensively, but defensively he's a pretty good approximation. Those Bucks teams have never been awesome three-point shooting teams, but they've racked up wins by emphasizing rim protection on defense and playing to the strengths of their stars on offense. I see the Indy trade as the best way to do the same thing.

Yeah, at this point, that is kinda obvious. This team has potential actually, but it's obvious that having Russ instead of those players completely negates it. We do have stars who are playing well. Adding some youth & athleticism helped, and the D looks very good, with potential to be excellent. But then you put Russ in at the 1 who can't shoot, can't play any D and has zero court awareness/IQ and everything just falls apart. Instead, Put in one big who can defend and maybe shoot the 3, and a wing (even a slightly undersized one) who can hit the 3 and you have a recipe for success. The team is definitely not a disaster, it's almost good actually -- but you need to get rid of Russ and replace him with the above. It's that simple.

Totally agree with you Pioneer10. No argument that this team is built for that particular trade. The million dollar question is do you do it even if it costs you both picks because Indy hasn’t budged on that ask. Real talk, would you do that deal today?

If the previous reports are true, Indy has already proven they aren’t interested in anything close to a fair deal.
Two firsts’ PLUS, is worth much more than an injury prone big and a one trick pony shooter who is over rated.
One first, a couple seconds, and no additional asks. That’s as far as I would go and only if we couldn’t work something out with the Spurs or Hornets.

Protected firsts not unrestricted: Hate to be in Jeannie and Rob's pocket here*** but Indiana's leverage does really drop as the season goes. Turner a FA and he ain't no AD and Hield is a neutral commodity. The way the roster is built, I still firmly believe this trade will happen

***f***ing let go of Caruso took a mess of a trade in Brick and made it into the Titanic: I will die on the hill if we had just kept Caruso this team would have awesome leverage now and everyone would be saying oh yeah the Lakers are one trade away from being a title contender. I mean I would be drooling at a Turner/Lebron/AD/Hield/Caruso finishing lineup. I'm obviously a Lebron guy and he deserves admonition for him and AD advocating for Brick but Caruso is all on Rob and Jeannie

yeah, reading those reports, it wouldn't shock me if indy demanded reaves on top of two unprotected 1sts if we came back to the table. teams just aren't negotiating in good faith. utah already took less to not deal with us. what can you do? i wouldn't overpay. but i would poach their guys in FA and work to block their moves in the future. screw your backwater franchises.
