no. but myles turner and buddy hield aren't what's going to make that difference. we're a borderline playoff team.

We would need one of youngsters to take a massive leap into near stardom for any team to consider trading us their established veteran star. Our two picks aren’t close enough to getting a big deal like that done on their own. I also agree that it will take a disgruntled player forcing his way here since the Laker and Rob taxes are real.

yeah, i think he has a chance to win minutes, but getting hurt in camp and having all that veteran competition at his spots doesn't help. folks will get hurt, though. bevs misses more time than AD. nunn missed a year with a bruise.

Nunn’s game fits well with Lebron and AD. Schroder not so much as we’ve seen. He’s best used as a sixth man off the bunch running an offense.

i think schroder played pretty well with the starters that year, but i agree i'd have preferred him off the bench with AC starting. this year, he's already slated off the bench, which is good. my groupings were by position.

I think Schroder and Bev will be a problem for second units. Pushing pace and getting out and running, is what Darvin has been preaching.

I understand not wanting to mortgage the future and obviously the younger Busses in charge of scouting share some of your thoughts Cookie as they were part of the decision making on the proposed trade. They highly value those picks. And I get that.

But at the end of the day I’m more invested in my team’s success or failure right now than I am in a post Lebron and AD future. I’m the one who has to suffer through mediocrity as it currently stands. Lebron and AD get paid no matter what. It’s the fans that have to deal with this poorly assembled product and it doesn’t bring me any happiness. I’d rather try to win now. Hield and Turner won’t guarantee that but abeer you yourself and others have admitted that next year’s free agent class is weak. Why risk a bunch of cap space for that? Get some pieces that fit. Everyone here with the exception of one single poster can see what we have is most likely a play in candidate, maybe 6 spot at best. That won’t get it done. I’d like to improve before the games start to count.

Nope. There aren't 5-7 teams in the West, that have a better duo than Lebron and AD. I guess you will have to be reminded of that fact this season.

Fans are booing at a preseason game.

I mean: if we struggle to start the season, it won't be pretty.

You might have a point if this was Cleveland Bron.

Or a 34 year old Bron. Still a great player, but he isn't the same. IMO. The cast around him isn't great. It can change, but it will take a trade.

On the bright side, most everybody I am reading does like what Ham is doing schematically even though it is early.

But hey, you're allowed to root for your team. I'm just not as confident as you are...

If they don't, it's all a moot point anyway isn't it? " Good" " well balanced " teams aren't winning jack. It's the teams that have their stars playing at their best that win chips. Stars make the role players look good.

Let's run with that premise: if I think LBJ is not a top 5 player anymore and more like 10-12, that will also likely effect the team, right?

That's my argument. He'll still be able to have gravity, score, facilitate, etc. He just do it at the level he was 5-6 years ago nor will he be able to defend at a high enough rate for 82 games.

He was sucking win at the end of the 1st quarter yesterday. Albeit, it's just the preseason.

He was ok putting up 30 ppg last season. James is still elite. He wasn't the same dude from Cleveland when we got him.

I always point out that we've struggled to win with him alone period.
I'm more concerned about AD returning to dominance, than I am about Lebron falling off the cliff tho. We gave Lebron more playmaking help than he's ever had with this team. We even brought in more young big talent to compliment AD.

If they can't make it through a full season, fine, time to move on. I still believe that this duo has more left in the tank.
