If Upshaw does indeed pan out it will be a huge coo Mich pulled off. But then the work begins keeping him on the straight and narrow. He WILL need a mentor he WILL RESPECT and LISTEN too to keep him away from hangers on and Grifters. We've all seen these stories before and how they usually end up. Who that mentor could be I don't know, Upshaw's the only one that can tell us. Whether it's a current player, former player, coach, or professional physiologist it's the only way to protect the investment they will have in him.

Anyone remember rydjorker? He wrote some excellent scouting reports on ClubLakers. Can I post here or start a thread? I don't think I can without his permission, right? To Mods?

We're contacting him now to see if he'd want to come here. I'd hold off on posting his reports.

Upshaw's got a lot of talent and potential. If he can get his head on straight, its a big plus for us.

Agreed. If would could find a good mentor for this young man as a placeholder while he develops, that would be great. The kid has a ton of talent.

Moving to Hawks instead. We're pretty loaded at forward it's probably a good move for him.

Nance, Anthony Brown, and Randle all on contracts already and will get a lot of minutes. Upshaw and Black will undoubtedly get a lot of time.

Better opportunity elsewhere. We ought to bring back that lanky kid from last year's pre-season... can't remember his name and I'm on my phone.

I'm really rooting for Upshaw. Especially in light of us not drafting Okafor. I honestly think baggage aside, that Upshaw is better than Myles Turner, who was a lottery pick. He has a chance to be a huge asset for us.

He's probably going to stay until the summer league ends. The Lakers and D'Angelo will offer more exposure than any other team.

I think Upshaw can and will play well for us. And I think he can keep his head on for this season. But if it's hard drugs and not pot, we will spend 15 years waiting for the other shoe to drop.

its something other tan marijuana thats for sure.

but reports are that he hired a life coach after he got kicked out the 2nd time and since then has turned his life around.

it seems he realized that it was his last chance. the talent is there just needs to get his life in order, but by that time his draft stock had dropped completely

everyone says he's a great guy just that he got involved with the wrong people, everyone speaks highly of him its just that one aspect that killed it for him

its low risk high reward for us and its his choice whether to take advantage of this opportunity or to let it slip thru his hands and blow it

Well Upshaw is going to have quite the test in our first summer league game going up against Towns. Should be a blast to watch!

if he plays equal to or better than the #1 pick in that game do we automatically sign him to a 25 yr contract like magic?
