    From Woj's article.

You could take "Far more draft assets" to mean our two picks being included if you're looking for silver linings to our potential partnership in the deal. So it seems they would need us more now than before, if they're going to resume talks.

And then here's some poison pill info from Bobby Marks

    I need hope, too.

    This roster isn't looking great.

It’s the path to true happiness. Some are trying to get Jeanie on board, and hoping to convince her to sell the team.

    lol, yeah, that's...garbage.

don't know what this utah/ny mess means for us, but it...isn't great.

still feel like utah has to move mitchell, and there's no way other teams aren't interested in bidding, so maybe we can facilitate some other move.

    for example:

    upload_2022-8-30_7-29-45.png

miami would have to give three firsts, minimum. we give zero picks because we're taking robinson. we get a shooter and a vet pg who won't actively harm the team. utah gets a good young player and relief from conley's salary next year. miami makes out like bandits, as riley always does.

i think this is unlikely, just giving an example of things that are still possible. major point is that i don't see how utah goes forward with mitchell after all this. he's going to lose value as a stat-stuffer on a bottom feeder as his contract shortens, and he could get hurt, completely killing his value.

From what I have heard of Tyler Herro he might retire before going to Salt Lake. Lol.

Anything that gets us starters without having to use picks is a win in my book.

Abeer I feel like you’re progressively talking yourself into disliking Russ more and more. Why would we do a trade like this? Lowry is effectively broken with two years left. David Robinson is out of the rotation in Miami and has 4 years left on his contract. I mean we could just let Russ expire…

If Russ is staying, there aren’t many moves left to make.

    it’s been an amazing off-season

Good on Amick for reaching back out to Jeanie and having her clarify such a wild quote instead of just letting it stand alone as clickbait (although I’m sure the “Westbrook was our best player” will still be aggregated as if that’s the only thing she said).

But Jeanie should really stop these press tours for a while. Feels like she ends up with her foot in her mouth whenever she talks to the media.

I blame her media gaffs partially on not having a good team around her. It’s crazy to me that someone who has been around as long as she has isn’t more media savvy.

if lowry's broken, what is russ? literally ground into powder? unlike our management, i'm not impressed by playing 78 games if you're going to play my team out of most of them. i'd rather have 64 games of a net + positive player who doesn't cause problems. and you're right, i've gradually gotten more and more severe in my valuation of russ, with his antics at the end of the season just cementing his status at the very bottom of my personal barrel. you can't talk like that after the season you had. the attitude is somehow even worse than the on-court results.

what's changed since last year? are you on the "frank vogel is an idiot and darvin ham will fix this" train? russ isn't going to buy into his appropriate role, and even if he did, he's still a bad fit with the rest of the roster.

i'm not worried about cap space next year because there's almost no one to use it on, and i don't expect the lakers to be in cap space rental for picks mode.

only half of robinson's last season is guaranteed, and all i hear everyone say is we need shooting. well, he can shoot it with the best of them. by the time his contract is up, he'll be making barely over the MLE.

anyway, it was just an example of some way we could draft off a different mitchell deal. i'd prefer better. but if i get two rotation players and don't give up any picks in a russ deal, i'm ok.
