I thought AfterLife was going to be crude sarcastic humor like Eastbound and Down, which I love. But it’s incredibly touching and well acted and written, in addition to being very witty. Totally caught off guard by how good it is.

The Boys season 3, one episode to go, but it’s so freaking good. It’s so good it makes Obi-Wan look even worse in comparison, that’s how you do satisfying moments of payoff.

    Better Call Saul series finale.

14 years with the best showrunners, writers, and creators of any universe that will ever grace the small screen. They gave us two perfect finales for BB and BCS.

These characters created were all so rich and the way the tied it all up this season was impressive. Running three timelines, weaving back in characters and moments from BB (especially in these final 3 episodes)... you just don't get that production level anywhere else.

Hard to imagine the initial concept of this show was a weekly client of the week, 30 minute comedy with Saul Goodman then to get THIS journey.

Jeeez… I went into the finale of Better Call Saul (partially still having PTSD from the end of GoT) not expecting too much. I had felt that they handled this final season well enough that the finale really didn’t need to be anything extra special to nail the landing. They could have played it safe and as long as they didn’t do anything too egregious, I would have been content.

But Gillian/Gould weren’t complacent like that. Instead they just perfectly wrapped the bow on top of the entire BB/BCS universe. I am genuinely not sure if I will see better storytelling, in any medium, through my lifetime.

Hard to say. They are dedicated to the story and the characters. And they were given free reign to do it. Everything is so corporate now. These giant media conglomerates are far more concerned about checking all the boxes to try and get the largest possible audience. They would much rather pump out a product that is average that people forget about 5 minutes after watching it, but gets 10 million viewers as opposed to something that is a masterpiece, but gets 5 million views. It's not about the art anymore. It's about the shareholders.

The more power these media oligarchs get, the less shows like BB/BCS we will see.

    Turkish series called Resurrection Ertugral

It's about the beginning of the Ottoman Empire. Lots of swordplay. All subtitles. Enjoyed it anyways.

Wondering if it's on the Netflix in the US. My account is now based in the Philippines, so available selections vary.

I think my favorites all-time are My So-Called Life, Quantum Leap, Veronica Mars, Matlock, The OA, and Murder, She Wrote.

    I may be missing some.

All time: Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, 24, Deadwood, Mad Men, Justified, True Detective season 1, GOT until the final season, Office until Carrell left, Cheers, Wire, Sopranos, House of Cards until the Spacey stuff came out, Vice Principals, HIMYM until final season, Wings (incredibly underrated 90s comedy), ER, Better Call Saul, and the Sorkin pairing of West Wing and Newsroom.

I should add The Office. I've watched the US version twice and the UK version at least twice.
West Wing was really, really good, too.

I’d have to break down my favorite shows into separate categories for dramas vs sitcoms.

Drama: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mad Men, The Wire, The Sopranos

Sitcoms: The Office, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Seinfeld, Parks and Recreation, Friends

I’ve heard great things about this show, started about a month ago but am only in the middle of Season 2. I’m enjoying it and it’s objectively pretty good TV, but something about it hasn’t quite hooked me yet. Feel like my pace has slowed down and am losing interest, although that may be in large part just because I’ve been drained from work this month and haven’t really had the energy to continue a new show that I have to pay attention to.

Curious, is there a sense that Season 3 has been the best one so far? Or if I’m not quite hooked yet, do you think Season 3 may not do it for me either?

    The Office only twice?!

I’ve probably seen it over a dozen times lol, used to be perfect background material or I’d even throw it on while I went to sleep back when it was on Netflix. The perfect example of a “comfort” show to me.

I was watching a documentary that posed some interesting Kyrie type of questions.

Why do the United Nations and the World Health Organization use the flat earth map as their logo?

I admit I love stuff that questions the narrative. But tell me how that makes any sense??? Why?

And is that a snake in the first logo?! How deep does this go, do Kyrie and KD run WHO?! What is Joe Tsai up to?

For a serious answer about the logo, they are organizations that are supposed to represent the entire world. A 2D picture showing the front of a 3D globe will inherently be missing countries that are on the other side. By projecting the entire 3D surface of the Earth onto a 2D plane in this simplified way, they’re able to show all the continents.

It’s a geometry/cartography thing, not an endorsement of Kyrie type beliefs.
