I get that. I was just trying to figure; it must've been set significantly higher. Or I'm missing something.
I am intrigued, but I don't want Rondo near our guys. I'd rather we roll with Ronnie Price, CJ Watson or even bring back Lin. I just cannot stress enough how badly I don't want Rondo near us. And it's not about his contract or his ability anymore. I'm not worried at all about Mitch signing him to a big contract. We have all these young guys, and I don't want him near them. You ever worked somewhere that had a lot of good people, but there was that one employee who was always complaining and being a d***? It effects everyone's attitude towards everyone else. I don't want Rondo to put Randle and Russell in a piss poor mood so they end up disliking each other for some reason, a reason that never would have manifested had Rondo not been there to drag everyone down. I've seen that stuff happen in the real world. Let alone in a tight knit group of 13-14 dudes who are on the road with each other ALL THE TIME.
I think a player's salary can only go up a certain % from his last contract and then it goes up from there I could be wrong
@trodgers Jordan's max starts somewhere around 19 million. He's been in the league over 6 years so he earns 30% of the cap.
Your team is still plausible if you take out Nick Young and dump his salary somewhere without taking any back.
And we could do that, I suppose. Or we could sign some bargain PG who can ball a bit - Brooks, for instance.
I was going to type that, but I deleted my answer. Working right now. Sorry, I wasn't more specific earlier...
Or my dude CJ Watson. More defense, less offense but we could use it. Russell/Watson Clarkson/Brown/Brown Bryant/Young/Nance Jr. Randle/Black/Kelly Jordan/Sacre/Upshaw
I don't think the FO is going after Rondo. I do expect them to explore moving Young and Kelly during this summer and the season. We'll end up with a center even if we have to overpay for one.
Real's team looks good - and we could afford to move EITHER Young or Kelly, but I don't know about both.
Our second unit would probably be better than our starters for last year. Watson-Brown-Young/Nance-Black-Upshaw. I know that statistically Black does better at Center, but I want Upshaw getting reps, too.
I don't think we drafted DAR to bring along slowly. If the FO were so confident in his ability just toss him into the fire quickly or else we just wasted a lottery pick on a project point guard. Magic, Eddie, Byron, probably West started in their rookie years. The Number 2 pick at point guard must start, Bigs are understandable to bring along slowly but lottery guards, who are a dime a dozen, must at least be capable of starting. Kobe had Eddie in front and so young but he would've. In other words, no Rondo.
I was listening to Scott on Mason & Ireland. I could be mistaken because I had to get out of my car, but it sounded like he wanted to start Russell, Clarkson, and Kobe and he liked the idea of sliding Kobe to the SF position.
