It's not that, this has ramifications to the league. And it concerns us because we will always want or have the biggest stars.
A good thing that may come down from it is that it may slow down this strategy of wanting to build superteams with these type of guys. And then you look at the teams who have been having more success and it's almost all through the draft or smart moves like Warriors, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Miami...
Hope the Lakers, despite us being such a unique franchise in the league, look at this and make the right moves post-Lebron.

    Unsigned FAs from last season:

    Waybe ellington 34
    Trevor Ariza 37
    Avery Bradley 31
    DJ Augustin 34
    Darren Collison 35
    Isaiah Thomas 33
    Carmelo Anthony 38
    Dwight Howard 36

    average age 35

You begin to see the problem. You throw Bazemore 33 and Deandre 34 in there as well as Lebron 37 and Westbrook 33 and it stays the same, we had 12 players with an average age of 35

I guess KD really does want out, and is not interested in a reconciliation. The thing about Kyrie basically remains the same story. He's not getting vaccinated and New York City has a vaccine mandate, that their mayor has said that he isn't lifting for sports players. I don't see how the Nets work out anything with Kyrie, unless the mayor of NYC changes his mind. KD..4 years is a long time to be willing to sit out, he's pretty much stuck IMO. He will probably get traded eventually, but he might not be happy about where he's going.

Why the hell does KD want Nash and Marks out? What an a-hole.

The mayor of New York lifted the vaccination mandate for professional athletes and performers in local venues back in March. Kyrie's been back. He played several games at Barclay's at the end of the season.

I lose track of this stuff..in that case Kyrie might not go anywhere. I don't know what all the accountability and availability stuff was about then.

Gotta love Durant “not liking the direction” of the franchise. Dude, you orchestrated this entire thing. Hell, if Simmons were to be healthy and they held on to Ky and he stays healthy, that team has a puncher’s shot at a title. Durant has become a caricature. What a joke.

At least KD didn’t say he wants a new owner too.

Hes definitely out there mentally. I just don’t see him taking the heat that will come with that team falling apart.

I remember this comment coming out of Durant's mouth:

Durant spoke about how NBA superstars might not want to play alongside LeBron because of the toxic environment around James.

He claimed that with the media putting so much focus on LeBron and everything that he does on and off the court, another superstar could find it a little tough to cope with such behavior.

“It depends on what kind of player you are. … So much hype comes from being around LeBron from other people. He has so many fanboys in the media. Even the beat writers just fawn over him.” Durant said

“I’m like, we’re playing basketball here, and it’s not even about basketball at certain points. So I get why anyone wouldn’t want to be in that environment because it’s toxic. Especially when the attention is bulls–t attention, fluff.

“It’s not LeBron’s fault at all; it’s just the fact you have so many groupies in the media that love to hang on every word. Just get out of the way and let us play basketball.” he added
I'm thinking the toxic BS has become much stronger around Durant. He can take this last comment and shove it up a place where the sun don't shine!! I used to like KD, and even hoped he succeeded but now ............... I hope he never sniffs another ring and I, for one, will never give him his due credit for the rings he won while Curry carried him. <== There I said it!! I am thinking he will be remembered as an underachiever who got into more BS and wasted his talent.

Seems like the whole Oklahoma trio of KD, Harden and Westbrook are just undesirable, spoiled brats. None of them could stand playing with each other. The only one to win a championship had to bandwagon onto an existing championship team which of all the star-teaming up was the most cowardly move of all time. Lost all respect for KD then.

Sounds like KD goes. Good for Joe. Don't support that big baby.

It's quite simple actually. Durant is a dumb frontrunner. I am not sure why is everyone so surprised. He is a taller Harden, basically, who just happened to coattail one of the greatest teams ever assembled to a couple of titles.

A 25 year old 3&D all star AND a few first rounders in exchange for a disgruntled primadonna 34 year old with a history of a torn Achilles sounds to me like it would be in the best interest of the Brooklyn Nets.

But with all this stuff being aired out so publicly, I’m guessing this has weakened Brooklyn’s leverage, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep dragging this on until training camp.

I kind of love all of this Nets meltdown. Makes us look pretty functional in comparison lol.

I lost all respect for KD when he did the if you can’t beat em join routine riding GS’ coattails and leaving OKC high and dry. It was weak and he’s been weak ever since. I’m glad to see he Kyrie and Harden and the Nets implode. Good stuff.
