Nash probably deserves to be fired, but I think Marks has done a solid job.

I don’t see Tsai letting KD push him around anymore though. Especially now that this is public, if he fires either of them it’ll look so weak that he’s letting KD call the shots.

nash was such weird hire, imo. and after atkinson was unfairly dumped. the whole thing over there sort of went haywire once they decided on the cap space route after years of attempting to rebuild in what i thought was the right way.

I'm assuming kd made this known a lot earlier to the nets and got frustrated to go public later on

I’m not sure if this came from KD, I’d be surprised if he wanted it to be publicly known that he wants his GM/coach fired.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him tweet about this report soon trying to act like it’s BS

This was the cross-the-rubicon move KD needed to make. There's no way Tsai fires Marks/Nash; caving to a player's public demand to fire a GM and coach is maybe the worst look an owner can have. He'd lose the respect of every other owner/executive in the league. There were rumors that the Silver/the league is not happy with the optics of KD's trade demand and were pressuring the Nets to play hard ball with him, this sure isn't making them any happier. You can't bring KD into camp either without completely undermining Marks/Nash. I really think KD is going to be traded now.

    Full article from The Athletic

Seems like Boston would be the favorites for KD which makes sense because Jaylen Brown is probably the best player the Nets could get.

As it pertains to Kyrie, while I do think that if the Nets trade KD that they’ll want to cut ties with Kyrie as well, if there is any truth to the rumors that Kyrie is happy to stay in Brooklyn then I don’t think acquiring Brown would change that.

I think they’re still close from their time together in Boston… and they’re also kindred spirits in the sense that they’re both pseudo-intellectuals who believe in some weird stuff. They’re also both associated with Kanye’s new “Donda Sports” management group.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Nets trade KD for Brown and then decide to just keep Kyrie for the year to try to contend, especially if they sense Kyrie is actually committed now.

Honestly, the Nets just sound like a dumpster fire right now and I expect Kyrie to bail. I don't think he's a weather the storm type of guy.

Damn, that's terrible for everyone concerned. They all lose with this.
I'm all up to give power to the people but this is too much. The guy has 4 years of contract. He misses a full year. Then they make a superteam paying 3max. Then a few months later this same Durant demands Harden to be traded, they do it. Then the team makes moves this offseason, like Royce and now this guy is burning everything.

As an owner/GM, how are you supposed to deal with this and make some sort of strategy? They invested so many trade assets, picks, resources and money to give him the best team possible and he bulks 4y before finishing his contract without delivering anything. This is madness

Yes, definitely a terrible situation all around for the Nets. Very unfortunate.

I never understood going with Nash either. Building a team built to win now and then putting a first time coach in charge just seemed off to me.

i've stopped guessing at what's in kyrie's head. i could just as easily see him staying and not really caring if they win or lose or whatever.

I want to caveat this by saying I don't have strong connections to the situation: but I believe that this meeting, like what we had anticipated, is just Durant trying to stir up more noise in light of the owner/league pushback w.r.t his trade request. After all, this likely seems like a controlled & deliberate leak from Kleiman.

Let's hope this situation resolves itself fast, so that the Nets shift focus on getting Irving to LA!!

wasn't nash basically KD's hire? i don't envision tsai giving into KD's demand and firing nash, which would make him look weak

this will drag out into the season

They should honestly just take the C Bags trade. That's probably the best they'll get.
