Easy enough for me to say as a C Bags hater but if I were them I wouldn’t do that trade Brown for Durant. They just made the Finals as is and have nowhere to go but up with their young team. They give up significant D there.

yeah, i wouldn't mind KD going to boston at all if it means brown and a couple other significant pieces go to brooklyn. they got to the finals because of their defense and taking brown and potentially smart and williams out of the equation would make them a lot worse on D

So basically some guy posts an old trade proposal, and it becomes hot news for a day or so. I guess somebody is going to dig up the Hayward for Westbrook stuff in a few days.

lol, the beauty of all our russ rumors is that it's not a secret that we've been trying to move him since like...day 4 of the experiment. bkn/durant appear to be hell bent on burning down several other teams' chemistry. at least the particulars of the toronto offer haven't leaked yet. and miami got to be ok because everybody already knows that herro isn't their guy. but phx and boston were supposed to contend again and now several of the principals have to be substantially less invested in the experience given that they know they'll be first out the door if things don't go right.

He throws stuff at the wall and takes celebratory laps when something hits. He also said KD to Philly on 7/3. Obviously that didn’t happen.

It's life in the NBA, there are probably only a handful of guys immune from from trade scenarios getting bandied about, involving them from time to time.

On another note...how long does it really take for " serious " trade talks? You pitch an offer, the other team counters ...it's not like they are talking nonstop for hours or weeks about it. GM's have staffs that crunch the numbers, examine a trade proposal in regards to the cap and CBA. I'm sure that everything that needs to be done in order to make a trade happen, is already known within 30 minutes or less.

I guess in order to get the scoops, you have to leak what they want you to leak occasionally. Even Shams

i'm guessing the actual talks between the primary actors (gms) are pretty short. but i imagine there can be a lot of internal deliberations and debates and thinking periods surrounding big trade talks. unless magic johnson is running things. then it's drunken speed dials. GET ME MIKE MUSCALA AT ALL COSTS!

in terms of the kd stuff, i'm guessing bkn is trying to give teams a while to sweat it out and have stuff like the jaylen brown leak happen to help up the urgency for other teams.

but no, i highly doubt some staffer is texting shams breathlessly as talks occur. more than likely, this is mostly agents and occasionally the gms themselves (morey has several press guys in his pocket, probably his greatest asset, tbh) who will feed the press some tidbits on occasion in exchange for them doing their bidding with other stuff.

have you noticed how over time, both sham and woj started adding fluff to announcements (jimmy walker signed for 4/36 million...he is a great perimeter defender who does a lot of charity work)? it's all relationship building/maintenance.

Stein says we’re exploring THT plus a pick for Hield.

I don’t want to use a pick for Hield.

We definitely will trade a first for Hield. Pelinka is desperate for shooting. I hope Pelinka can use a couple seconds with THT instead of a first.

Can someone clear this up for me? As far as I can tell using the ESPN Trade Machine, I can NOT get a Hield trade to work using just THT/Nunn. It’s not enough salary. The only way it works is (using players that are eligible to be traded) in the Trade Machine is THT + Nunn + SJ + Gabriel + Reaves.

Yet I keep seeing reputable journalists throw out the idea of us trading for Hield separate from a Westbrook trade.

Is the Trade Machine wrong? Or have these journalists not done the math (and/or not realizing the “filler” that we’d seemingly have to add would not be viable for us)?

I would be totally down with THT + second rounders for Hield. Anything more than that? Eh…

If the premise is that Myles Turner by himself is also worth 1 first round pick, why don’t we do THT/Nunn+pick for Turner instead of Hield?

Turner can be relied upon to be great on defense, solid on office, big who can space the floor. He’s also younger than Hield, and is a expiring contract. If it works well with Turner, we can re-sign him next summer with his bird rights and there’s more flexibility this way.

If Hield is a disaster, we will likely need to attach picks to move him next summer….

Yeah, because of Hield's incentive based contract it's not possible without Russ unless you do a 4 for 1 trade. (THT, Nunn, Stanley Johnson, Damian Jones). Damian Jones can't be traded yet.

Lakers can't trade THT alone (salary) for Hield and even THT/Nunn is not enough salary to net him.

As a tax paying team, Lakers can only take back 125% of salary they send out. THT and Dunn (which would be a mistake IMO) is 15.4 million, meaning we can only take back 19.25 million.

    Buddy makes 21.1 million.

Lakers would need to add a minimum third player and get to 17 million, and if it is Reeves then Pelinka should be tarred and feathered at center court on live TV

Incentives don't count, but the Lakers need to come up to 17 million basically to get Hield. Trade machine is off on that, which is better to use Fanspo.com.

    THT 10.2
    Nunn 5.2

    Need MINIMUM 1.5 million more....
