    This would be perfect.

-KD going to a team that just beat him
-C Bags breaking up a finals team
    -KD stays East
-Boston maybe... gets worse? Depending on what they give up, it's possible. And KD isn't the healthiest guy lately.
-KD in Boston, Kyrie here... Theater.

watch kd go to boston for less than gobert went to minny, and everyone just being like "well, obviously..." instead of, i don't know, a league office trade veto or something TOTALLY INSANE like that.

If it's Brown, Smart or White, with 2 FRP's and a swap or two deal I think it's slightly comparable. Brown is a real talent, but at the same time the gap between Gobert and Durant is also massive.

after bkn said that ayton/bridges/johnson and 3+ 1sts wasn't enough, it better be something large from boston's end.

i suppose smart's value is at an all-time high right now, so maybe that figures in.

I'd demand Time Lord if I'm Brooklyn. No doubt.

If Stern were still alive he’d make damn sure this happened lol. The cherry on top is Tatum eventually getting pissed that the C Bags made him the #2 to Durant and coming to us in a few years.

Well, on the plus side maybe Brooklyn will finally make a deal so the rest of the league can move forward.

The fallout there could be epic. C Bags snag Durant, trade players and picks. Doesn't work out for whatever reason. Meanwhile we get Kyrie, win the title (ideal world), and Tatum bolts.

    Be still my heart.

the mitchell deal is actually as big or a bigger holdup, as utah figures to have a full-on firesale after that.

    conley
    beasley
    gay
    clarkson
    bogdanovic
    beverly
    vanderbilt

may all be available for various forms of draft compensation as soon as mitchell moves.

    ugh. more of this:

    let me help you:

if any contract is an albatross here, it's hield's, as he has another year after this. a real albatross is maybe julius randle's contract with the knicks. expiring contracts are how teams ESCAPE albatrosses.

think about what that means--it means indy thinks they're killing us (and they are) if they can get that deal. because they won't get two firsts in separate deals for those guys without eating undesirable salary themselves.

you don't need to pay a 1st to get off an expiring contract. it's literally never happened unless a team was clearing immediate space. this is not the case here. we're bringing back nearly the same amount of money in the deal, so savings are minimal.

the one (top-5 protected) pick is for turner. they take 5 million or so on in salary to get off hield a year early.

the author then sort of lays out the case for why indy could use westbrook's contract instead of having hield on the books, somehow ignoring that it negates the idea that just taking westbrook is worth a 1st rounder.

sorry, i'm on rob's team here. not worth two picks. we can set our market, too, you know.

edit: and none of these pieces discuss the fact that turner has played about the same amount of games as AD the past two years, and his injuries are substantially more troubling. also, he's a UFA that indy probably doesn't plan to sign long-term.

Yeah. Even if the market is trying to get you to give up both picks it doesn't mean you have to go with it.

There's certainly a package of players that can be put together where I'd be okay with the picks going out. Hield/Turner just isn't it.

The dude has no value at all? Even as an expiring or super-six man? LOL.

The only time I remember taking getting a first for an expiring is when we took on Jeremy Lin from the C Bags and I believe we got a 1st for it?

But come on, man. Teams are really trying to fleece us. Brogdon just got traded for a 1st and salary cap filler in players they ended up cutting...lol.

    What a joke.

i mean, they should be. the knicks want to get off randle/fournier, and the other two teams are trying to lose.

so who's giving me the best player package? i'm taking calls.

i'm sure boston offered brown/white and a couple picks and bkn countered with brown/smart/williams/4 picks.

we took lin from houston so that they could clear immediate space to make an offer for bosh, i think. again--teams pay a first to dump expirings only if they need immediate cash. we don't.

    That's what it was...

I don't mind giving up a first for Russ dependent on the deal.

Russ & 27 should be enough for Turner/Hield for example. Whatever.
