Yawn. People have been making statements like this for years. The FO has actually been able to bring in a lot of players throughout Kobe's career. Not all have worked out but that was for a variety of reasons.

Kobe puts people in seats. The front office knows this very well and that's what makes me doubt this. His sendoff will be similar to Jeter's and it should be. Kobe earned that no matter what any of the talking heads say.

I don't know how true this is. Kobe is the Lakers cash cow and that's even more important now with how bad our team has been the past couple of seasons.

Henry Abbot is probably the single biggest Kobe hater on the planet. I'm sure it is entirely coincidental that he also happens to have written the article.

Henry Abbot hates Kobe, he has it out for him. He goes out of his way to discredit his accomplishments. Jeanie loves Kobe, and if it's true and it's Jim, who gives a f***?

It's absurd the amount of super-negative press he gets. The only thing that makes sense to me is that some sports analyst team thinks that the NBA needs a villain, as much as they need their golden boy LeBron. Because Kobe has made so much money for the NBA that he doesn't deserve this mud-slinging, especially when he's still the ambassador to Asia, bringing in more overseas money than any other player.

This article is pure BS. Sad this is that a big part of sports media especially hate Kobe and have for many years. Kobe is one of most disrespected legends, I have ever seen.

Garbage. This isn't a credible source (big surprise there), it's a random poster on realgm and their opinion of what Abbot's article means. They even quote a bit of the article and you can see how they twist the truth:
This is basically known that players generally think we don't really have the space with Kobe on the books and the lack of draft picks to do much building this season and next. That's been twisted to "major players don't want to play with Kobe" It's being made to make it sound like Kobe is some miscreant that no one will go near and that Jim can't wait until he's gone. He's respectfully waiting for Kobe to leave and he knows real rebuild will likely have to wait until then. Total garbage, stop posting stuff like this with no credible source.A random nobody on another forum isn't a source.

Just signed up for the "new" site, looks good. Anyway, was going to read that article before I saw Henry Abbott was the author. Talk about a little man with an axe to grind... anyone else remember his "Phil Jackson does not know everything" column? Hilarious.

Didn't know that but yeah explains everything. What a complete turd and ******* article to write. I get big time personally offended and pissed when I see the now, mountains of Kobe hate and disrespect out there. Good lord he is STILL and has ALWAYS been the RAREST and most AMAZING, multi GENERATIONAL type of player. Will never be another like him!! You'd have to be crazy to work that freaking hard every year your whole 18-20 year career wanting to be the best and most skilled player in the history of the game, now that Jordan and Bryant sit at the top. The injuries he has stayed on the floor playing through ON TOP of ALL of that if you need it. Not even Jordan topped that. No offense Kareem, but you're a big man and could not do some of the things with the ball that Magic (not enough years) and Kobe could do. The Sky Hook does not trump everything else these two guys brought for that length of time.

Please don't bypass the swear filter, thanks LT- therealdeal

Yeah, I'll reiterate: GARBAGE! You have to look at the timing of this junk coming out at the same time that BSPN also puts Kobe at number 40 in the league and Chris Broussard starts talking about how Kobe is "done" and looks terrible "according to my sources." They love to denigrate Kobe at every possible instance. It's truly annoying. Luckily he looks at it as fuel for his fire. If anyone dared to do this kind of thing to Michael Jordan, heads would have rolled and firings would have been done on the spot. You were not allowed to say a bad thing about that guy in any official capacity. His womanizing and his gambling addiction (Even betting on NBA games!) were BURIED by the league and the press at that time. Dude was straight out protected to the same level that Kobe gets roasted. Personally I think it all stems from Kobe's likeness to Jordan and his daring to "be like Mike." The press always seemed to take that as a slap in the face.

Unfortunately, this article is just repeating many things we have heard for years and years. I’m not trying to pit Laker fans vs. Kobe fans, but there is a large segment of Laker Nation that is loyal to Kobe over the Lakers and management knows this. Management was in a no-win situation with the Kobe deal. Obviously they know he's not worth even half of that salary in terms of on the court production in today's NBA. I highly, highly doubt Abbott went out and lied about all these sources, or that these sources are actually people sitting in random bars. Nor can anyone really dispute the fact that not one star has wanted to come to play with Kobe other than Steve Nash, and that was a ring-chasing/family proximity decision…and if he isn’t 40 years old, Phoenix doesn’t even let him hit free agency. Gasol and Dwight left, leaving money on the table. I appreciate Kobe for all he's done, but I am also open to the idea that some of this stuff is indeed true. It's not like Abbott is the ONLY person who has talked about these whispers. I hate several writers, commentators, but I don't automatically ignore everything they say just because I disagree with them a lot.

So, Paul George calls out the media for being ridiculous once again.

This article makes me want to censor Henry Abbott's name from ever being spoken on LB so we stop giving him traffic..

Sorry but Abbott is just stupid. I always try to avoid those true hoop tv stuff etc. - but this ... He even looks like you couldn't be more anti-basketball. Instead of giving Kobe some props for coming back like has already in the preseason from those two devastating injuries they keep releasing s*** articles.
