makes sense. i still can't believe bkn and toronto haven't just worked something out. i know kd hasn't said he'd play there, but they did it with kawhi and are in position to make a fair offer, imo.

anyway, you're right that it appears bkn is just going to try to ride it out. and maybe it's their best option given the timing of things. but a rough start could force their hand into some things that are worse than their current options.

same with us, of course, which is why i'd pivot.

edit: lol at me and elgin both typing "pivot" simultaneously.

Brooklyn won’t trade Kyrie first. Because if they can’t get a KD trade they like, they will probably run it back. And if they run it back they need Kyrie to maximise their chance of competing.

I think the likely outcome right now is Russ and Kyrie stay where they are and we look at some trades around the fringes with THT and the picks.

I'm also surprised a deal with Toronto hasn't been made yet. From what I understand KD left OKC for GSW (all cupcake jokes aside) because he was really impressed with their style of play and the overall quality of their organization. I think Toronto presents a similar alternative to his current situation (which is unfair to Brooklyn, since they turned control over to KD and Kyrie). Toronto is a rock solid organization with well-respected executives in Masai and Webster, a great coach in Nurse and less media scrutiny. No one is going to call KD a ring chaser by accepting a trade to Toronto. On the court, they value discipline, length and versatility, a system in which KD is a perfect fit. Raptors fans for some reason think Siakam should be off the table, which is ridiculous. Something like Siakam, Anunoby and a few picks should make all parties happy. VanVleet/Trent Jr./Barnes/KD/Boucher is a damn good team that can compete for a title.

I have to disagree about pivoting now, but I've ranted in this thread about it enough so I'll spare everyone from my same take lol.

KD left to GSW to piggyback on the championships they were winning without him. Period.

Any other excuse he gave for coming to GSW was pure nonsense.

Agreed. He left OKC for a sure thing to a team with 3 All Stars. That’s about as weak as it gets.

Also on his burner accounts he said that KD left because OKC couldn’t build around him and Russ and everyone else was trash. So for those saying he left because of Russ - you aren’t right.

Would've liked to get in on this, but we're not seen as a frontrunner so we're not at the top of lists for any ring chasers when they get bought out.

If it's dropped from two 1sts to a 1st and a couple 2nds then that indicates compromise and movement on the Nets end. I'm perfectly OK with that deal if we are getting Harris (with a Dr's OK) or Curry too.

I don’t think that Russ would agree to sit at home.

A few of us brought up the Raptors a while back for that same deal too, Siakam and OG. I think the hold up there is Barnes though.

I’m good with giving up a couple of seconds. We can always buy back in if we see someone we like

If we can't give up one first round pick for Kyrie and Curry, I don't believe we were ever determined to get rid of Westbrook.

Damn the alleged "The Lakers are desperately shopping Russell Westbrook " jazz that keeps getting spouted.

On another note..damn that roster we had sucked last season. 6 thousand minutes played, and nobody picked up any of them? Jeesh

I'd give up unlimited seconds lol, we bought the 35th pick this year.

I can't believe that such situation would hold up the deal.

I'm also not into waiting for Kyrie. I would try to pursue other deals and the Conley thing looks great. Hope Mitchell gets moved soon.

I am probably the only one that want Bev here. That's the type of guys you want in the roster, especially when we have so many soft people in this team.

If we had him and Conley would be really great. Bogdan would probably fit well with LeBron and AD, but I can see Utah wanting to move JC and someone else for another package. They can get more picks with those guys.

Russ and a 1st for Conley, Beverley I would do in a heartbeat

    Conley / Pat Bev
    Reaves / Nunn / Walker
LeBron / THT (or trade) / Brown
    AD / JTA / Stan
    Jones / Bryant / Gabriel

I like it. THT could actually grow with such team

lol, right? all the seconds, forever. they're yours. maybe for free.

me neither. i doubt this report.

yes. i prefer it to kyrie, tbh.

i can't stand bev and think he's overrated and also think we could use him.

i'm good either way. they could probably garner a first for bogdan, but they'd have to eat salary. but they're utah, so that might make more sense. i'll take jc or bevs, no prob.

i'd like lotto protection on the first, or maybe even just top-10, but it's a no-brainer for me.

We wouldn’t ASK Russ, we would tell him to stay home. If he doesn’t want to do that, he can agree to give back X amount of money and we will release him from his contract and he can find another team of his choosing.

i mean, he could sit angrily on the bench, i guess? the best response would be to stop sucking and help your team win regardless of whether or not you hit your fantasy numbers.

Maybe that, but my opinion is also he liked their style of play and the way the ball and players moved and he was frustrated and tired of playing with Russ.
