    No and no.

He's a FA in 2024 and his 23-24 salary has $10m in non-guaranteed money in it, making it easier to dump if we so desired.

He missed a little over 20 games in 2 of the past 3 seasons. Last year, he only missed 10. We'd be lucky to have a starter who only missed 10 games.

I see, so all the reports that Kyrie actually wants to come to LA were BS then? Players do that a lot, announce the team they want to go to then change their story and say they want to stay where they're at. It's too late the damage is done, everyone knows. And Westbrook can be seen as a way to move a disgruntled player OR a 3rd team can be employed to provide some serviceable players for BRK.

    Starting to think the same.

Thinking we need to pivot to adding shooting.

We need a couple of knock-down 3-point shooters.

It's been 20 days. Seen this game played very often, say the team you want to go to through channels then change the story back to "I want to stay" It's too late, everyone heard your destination request and the desired effect has been achieved.

no, he's under contract until 2024.

he played 72 games last season (50 the two previous, 70 the one before that). so, he's more reliable than our stars.

    look at present?

And remember the 2 previous were 72 game seasons so roughly 68% those 2 years and 75+% the past 3 seasons total

woj is basically saying the lakers have multiple talks going on with multiple teams, i think.

people saying we can't deal with ainge/utah, but indy's even less likely, imo.

Which leads me to think the best case would be to try and jump into a Utah/New York deal. Take back bad contracts both team don't want like Conley and Fournier and maybe just giving up 1 frp in the process.

i'm obviously all-in on this approach and have been since january. it just doesn't seem like we're that in on it.

note that all these reports aren't "kyrie is now excited to return to bkn". they're "he's gradually accepting that he may have to be there in october". big difference. my fear is that we'll let kyrie's interest in us keep us from adding any salary for next summer, so we suffer through a bad year, then are at the whims of a nutball.

Yeah, I have always been in on try to get 2-3 good/useful players for Russ, and I hope we move to that now. 2 stars a deep team is the formula for titles, just is, unless you’re the cowardly Warriors with 4 stars who just want to run the league with little challenge. If we can’t get Kyrie oh well, and I also wouldn’t count on the “he will be a Laker next year” thing either, dude changes his mind more than his underwear, he wanted to be a C bag at one time too.

I'm not sure why Fischer is being afforded so much credence, he's the one who reported at the beginning of this that there was a very real possibility Kyrie would opt out and take our MLE. That tells me he's hearing from/being fed things from Kyrie's camp, because they were obviously leaking the MLE thing to get the Nets to offer a better extension. Now Fischer says Kyrie is accepting that he'll be with Brooklyn to start the season and that its the most likely scenario, why would Kyrie's camp leak that to him? Probably as a message to our FO to stop holding assets back in negotiations and get the deal done.

The Nets are trying to slow play the KD trade talks in hopes he'll change his mind. They think they can get away with it because they don't think KD will go nuclear to get traded out of there like Butler or Harden. So long as KD isn't pushing them too hard on a trade, might as well sit back and see if we'll cave and include whatever additional asset(s) they want. They don't lose their leverage until KD makes it abundantly clear there's no scenario where he and Kyrie are playing out the season there.

When I hear Utah, San Antonio,Boston, Indiana, and Portland I immediately have doubts on a deal being possible

    yeah, give me conley/bogdanovic and i'll surrender a 1st and 2nds.

give me hayward/oubre, and i'll give you no picks but still take it.

i still just can't believe the bad luck that has indy and san antonio as two teams that need to get to the salary floor while we need to unload a big deal. i mean...c'mon...

I like the idea of building depth but I don’t know that the front office does because we like names. It’s how we ended up with Russ.

I think we want Kyrie and are all in on making that happen.

Not sure if / when we’d pivot.
