Sorry I think my post created too much confusion. Apologies for rushing.

I heard that Pelinka did briefly try to see if he could hop onto the KD discussions and turn it into a mega trade that had BKN sending out both Durant and Irving, just to speed things up. But no progress, and likely won't materialize. It's not unusual for GMs to propose long shot ideas like this, on the off chance that it sticks.

Main reason for sharing was not to break any major news, but rather just to let folks know that LAL is still trying everything they can to get this done!

    Please take care!!!

End of summer league. Basically saying it'll get done while everyone is gathered in Vegas.

Anyone else think Schroder as our backup PG is legit? I get the slander but I mean…

Kyrie Irving is a special talent: MVP caliber type of dude if he ever (unlikely) has the mindset to do it. I mean the guy literally outplayed Curry in the biggest stage.

But considering his age and the Lakers lack of depth I wonder if the Lakers wouldn't be better off with Hield and Turner. Turner/AD instantly makes the Lakers an elite defensive team again. This is big as the Lakers don't have any 2 win wings still outside of Lebron. Hield gets you the floor spacing and PG has the most talent in the league so it shouldn't be that hard to find a Tyus Jones/Patty MIlls type as the season progresses.

I'm not against a Kyrie trade at all because AD/Kyrie can be special and this would free up Lebron to get then less than 30mpg a game. Plus I like what the Lakers have done to fix the size issues and anyone is kidding themselves if teams wouldn't fear a Kyrie/Lebron/Ad trio. Lebron isn't Cleveland Lebron anymore but AD is a way better player than Love was in Cleveland

Schroder with Hield/Turner trade make a lot of sense actually. Remarkable that after the disaster of last year the Lakers have what appears two legit options to become a contender again.

The wing issue remains a concern but that seems like the case for the entire league outside of the Clips/Bucks/Raptors/Warriors. Even the C Bags with two All-NBA types at the wings needed another wing as they couldn't rest either Tatum/Brown

We don’t have the assets to trade for both Hield and Turner. They don’t want want Russ. I’m convinced this rumor was put out by the Lakers.

    Gross.
I would rather have Augustine back if we’re going that low.

    Agreed.

I still think if the Hield / Turner deal was there we’d have taken it by now and just moved on from the Nets.

I’m actually not as down on Schroder as some people on here. He actually saved the Lakers from themselves with his stupidity to decline that extension.

I didn’t see any rumors or articles linking him to the Lakers though, do you care to share that?

I’m actually a fan of the idea if we can get him for the minimum. He’s under 30, quick, and we know he actually fits decently with AD/Bron. I’d be fine with this idea if the Kyrie trade goes through and he comes off the bench as Kyrie insurance. We could use the depth.

I wake up from a nap. Stretch. Log on to see if Westbrook's gone yet. Nope.

    Aight: back to snooze.

I like him too, but would be surprised if they gave him this opportunity so soon.

We don't need another non-shooter, no-defense guard on this team, so a big no to Dennis Schroeder. Been there and done that.

I have seen no real indication from Indiana that they are looking to unload Turner and Heild for Westbrook; which would have to be them basically adding 7 million in cap space. If anything I have read they are seriously considering offer sheeting Ayton.

Even if they don't, they would likely want both first rounders in that deal MINIMUM- why else do the trade???. We couldn't add THT with Westbrook because they have no matching salary to send back our way...

I just don't see it and I don't know why it keeps being brought up.

It is Irving or bust....THT (with or without Nunn) should be used to try and get a wing...

Yes. I can see him being a guy who can make a contribution right away but will probably be held back and worked in slowly, I think he will make the roster. One of the good things about being a point is the ball starts with him, instead of being a rook waiting on a vet passing you the ball. I'm hoping he progress and refines his game, I like his swag.
