As currently stands, the team for next season looks like this:

    Thomas Bryant, Damien Jones
Anthony David, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Wenyen Gabriel
Lebron James, Stanley Johnson, Troy Brown Jr
Austin Reaves, Talen Horton-Tucker, Lonnie Walker IV
    Russel Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn

Scottie Pippen Jr and Cole Swider on 2-way
Max Christie hasn’t signed yet so technically we have two spots left

    I suggest we go with

    LeBron/Bryant/Pippen/AD/O’Neal.

He’s not a guard, so Rob has zero interest in him.

more reasons to just trade all our picks. Lebron saved our franchise from ourselves. Best thing to do now is to appease him and the fans.

Major signings to go still (Kyrie, Curry and/or Harris) some stuff looks good

    Bigs last year: AD(28), Deandre Jordan(33), Dwight Howard(36), Melo(37), Gabriel(25) [19 games]

    5 players @159 years

    Bigs this year: AD(29). Bryant(24), Jones(27), Gabriel(25) Jay Huff(24)

    5 players @ 129 years

We cut about 30 years off our bigs so far. If you consider LBJ played big a lot last year and won't this year (hopefully not much maybe a little in playoffs), more like 68 years. This should give AD some legs and hops around him. Keep him on the floor more where he can't injure his eyebrow or something

Still don't know about the MLE signing, that one has me going huh?

Thomas Bryant is high upside, really like both of our Center signings.

Nunn and Monk last year were great guard signings. Maybe next year we’ll get some interesting young wings?

Yeah it’s a shame we missed Warren for the vet min. I was opposed to offering him TPMLE money given his recent injury issues but vet minimum is a great chance to take on him.

I would of preferred OPJ for the mMLE and Warren for the minimum. Would of been a great rotation.

    Russ/Nunn
    Warren/Reaves/THT/Christie
    Lebron/Stan/Brown
    AD/OPJ/Toscano
    Bryant/Jones

With a potential trade or two still to happen.

correction: warren did all that before missing two years with foot surgery. mr. glass. class organizations don't do mr. glass, right? because they can see it coming.

i'm not against warren; i'm against the idea that not getting warren is a referendum on the entire offseason. it's ridiculous.

i've just learned to live with the klutch nepotism. i don't think it's the way to run a franchise. but it is how we have lebron and AD instead of hoping to fashion a contender around brandon ingram and lonzo ball eating half our cap.

to be upset about any of this, you have to grant that last premise. i do not. i've been consistent since prior to FA that the mini-mle had limited power to improve us. my guess is rob surveyed the landscape (yes, probably even calling tj christ's agent) and decided that the mle was likely just an expiring 6 million.

front offices make big mistakes all the time, so it makes sense to be really mad about a missed vet min signing? even if warren blows up like you're thinking, he's gone next year like monk was.

btw, we hit on monk last year when everyone else slept. did we suck at talent evaluation then or did it just happen over the course of the past year?

this again? my point isn't that they're different; it's that people speak about the events differently and evaluate the same outcomes differently.

lol, we are NOT the premier organizaton in basketball by a longshot. but we also can't sign everyone that everyone wants every year. this is part of why people make fun of this fanbase: we're going to get everybody all the time!

this is what i read into jeanie's drunk tweet, tbh. really think good organizations don't have a rambis/harris contingent--executives at some nebulous level that have input on all decisions and accountability for none. rob's the one who's going to get fired if things don't go well. let him make the choices. if rambis has a real risk of termination based on the outcome, then sure, let him decide. but it's clear he doesn't, so he shouldn't.

    anyway, back to the thread:

bryant/jones is about as good as i could have hoped for the c position given the market and our purchasing power. ahead of FA, i wanted to get both dieng and dedmon on minimums, but dedmon went for twice that i think, and both of those guys are getting long in the tooth. we got two guys who should be right in their prime and who each bring a different look that we could use. sort of a home run on two vet mins.

Love the Bryant signing, he was my top choice as a free agent center we could realistically get for the minimum.

I have also been really impressed with Jay Huff through the summer league games so far, and wouldn’t be too disappointed if the Lakers used a roster spot on him. He’s got a skill set that this team needs - high energy big, can block shots and hit the 3.
