I think I’m good with this at this point. Still have reservations about Irving but I have to feel like if there was a better option we’d be hearing about it.

Sucks but we’re just getting another example of how real the Laker tax is. nobody wants to be the team that helped us out of a hole or handed us another ring.

Irving has a 5.5 million trade kicker the Nets have to pay....so not only are they taking on 10 million more in salary (Westbrook 47, Irving 36.9) but that 5.5 also comes into play; making it close to a 16 million hit. The savings with Harris (18.6) would mean the Nets potentially could save 2-3 million (with the option of buying out RW if they choose and maybe save a few million more); so no I don't think they would want THT's 10.2 million.

I also dont think when it is all said and done that there will be other teams willing to take on that headache and 36 million. Hell, most teams are finalizing their rosters right now (with the exception of those who have serious intentions/chances at KD).

No, because of tax situations with them it is more likely than not the Nets will have to cut to take on the players that KD brings ON TOP OF KD and Irving- especially with them adding another 30 million in payroll by taking on Royce O'Neal and re-signing both Nic Claxton and Patty Mills....

No, I think Russell Westbrook, 2023 2nd round pick (1 or both or 1 and a future) and the 2027 or 2029 1st rounder (one, not both) for Irving and Harris is fair on both sides....

Arent trade kickers normally paid by the team who traded for the player? And they can be waived as well right?

Better win a title then, Lakers will have no future at the end of the decade.

Mitchell and Jimmy Buckets together would be a fun team to watch.

It’s okay because Kyrie said the end of the World is coming by then anyway.

I don’t know why we would want to include THT- he’s still young and can run the bench unit.
Now, if he’s the deal breaker, and the Nets want to take on his salary, then fine.

Pretty much have to include THT for not only salary but to try and reduce the number of guards on the team. Harris is a knockdown shooter so swapping THT out for him should be a great fit.

Kyrie will go in a totally separate deal, not with KD's deal. So, no Laker 3rd team. Also, BRK doesn't want Westbrook. At all.

Irving can waive it or Nets pay it.

Point being I find it much more likely the Nets are looking to save money (and they save nothing with a Irving 36.9+ Harris 18.6= 55.5 and Westbrook 47+ THT 10.2= 57.2) than them adding to their payroll....

Every report I have heard is for cap reasons the Nets will not want to be adding more salary in any Irving deal. Adding TNT means +2 million more and that isn't even including the 5.5 trade kicker.

Westbrook+ picks for Irving/Harris saves them 8.5 million (assuming Irving waives his trade kicker) and salaries match close enough for trade to go through...

They will take Westbrook over Irving....especially if they can get some picks for it.

They could trade Irving AND Harris, save 8.5 million; get Irving to waive his trade kicker which is another 5.5 million (he probably isn't waving it to go somewhere else) AND if they don't want Westbrook, they could buy him out and save another 5 million or so.

Save close to 20 million and get picks, at least one 1st rounder??

Um ya, they will take Russell....

Could send THT out to a different team/deal.
