This was retweeted by Haynes, so I was hoping it might have some scoops. This seems to be the only line with “details on possible outcome for Kyrie”:

So I’m not sure if this is just editorializing, or Goodwill is trying to report this as an actual option being considered.

Because that would be asinine on Brooklyn’s part. If they want Kyrie gone that bad, get something for him.

He’s got to be editorializing, there’s no way the Nets do that. If they did Kyrie could just sign here AND we could also trade Russ for usable pieces. They can get a pick from us, unload Harris, and get a big expiring, no way they waive him and pay his salary for 3 years.

Oh man if he gets stretched, wouldn’t he just sign for the vet minimum with whichever team KD goes to?

This is big, this Gambo guy is legit. He’s a Suns guy, but in this situation that actually makes sense why he’d have some info. Was probably asking around some of his Nets sources for info on the KD situation and heard about this too.

Personally I’d think we are trading him separately. Can’t use all our trade pieces in 1 trade, we only have 3.

Nets have lost all leverage. They need an asset from us to save face until the KD package comes in (or to lump the sum together).

There's no way we get Kyrie without a pick, but we are in a position to get another shooter from them (Curry or Harris) and they can chalk it to to saving money.

Then BRK has to include other parts as the money is like 58 million. Kyrie for Westbrook by itself doesn't even work. Kyrie + Joe Harris for Russ + THT works. Seth Curry in Joe's place and it doesn't work.

That was my assumption too, but if the Nets don’t believe in THT (which I wouldn’t blame them for) maybe they’d rather just save the money.

Russ+THT for Kyrie+Harris is a legal trade, but adds ~$2 million of salary to the Nets books.

On the other hand, Kyrie+Harris for just Russ with no THT is also still a legal trade, but it helps to clear ~$8 million of salary from the Nets books. That might be preferable to the Nets than taking THT just for the hell of it.

But that also means the trade without THT would cost the Lakers a lot more in luxury tax. But if Jeanie was willing to pony up for that in order to make the trade work, save a first round pick, and maintain THT as an asset for another trade, that would go a huge way towards restoring her image in the eyes of the fans.

I have a question for anyone who may know it's regarding the ability to resign Kyrie after one year here..
So, I know that players on a two-year deal followed by a one-year deal on the same team get bird rights so Kyrie had 2 years at BRK and this would be a new 1-year deal but also with the same team so if he gets traded to us now, does that 2-year build-up toward bird rights go to us so that we have the full 3 years at the end of this season and can resign?

My understanding is that the Nets have full bird rights on Kyrie, which would then transfer to us in a trade.

So we’d be able to go above the cap to re-sign Kyrie up to the max if we wanted to.

Oh I thought he was a UFA when he went to Brooklyn in which case bird rights don't carry over.

From what I am reading though I believe we will get the credit Kyrie has earned at BRK.

Yup, he’s even bringing this up now to defend from some trolls trying to attack his credibility lol

Kinda makes me wonder if maybe Nash is his source?
