Porter Jr is another injury prone player. There are two things that happen when players come to the Lakers. Your shooting drops, you get injured more.

Does a THT/Bamba sign and trade mean we can’t use the MLE?

Otto Porter Jr looked very unathletic on the Warriors, especially in the playoffs. Very injury prone the previous seasons as well. I'm getting Ariza vibes from him

this is where my cap knowledge gets fuzzy. the apron this year is 155.7 million.

i think accepting a S&T makes it so that we can't use the mini-MLE (at least not all of it).

if we did a S&T that simultaneously reduced salary, it could be back in play, though. for example, if we sent THT and nunn to orlando for bamba signed at, say, 9per, that reduces our cap number a bit under the new hard cap of 155.7. but i don't know how vet mins work after that, etc.

i feel like it just complicates things quite a bit.

i haven't been nuts about porter, either. he and warren are both huge risks given their history. we've had such bad luck with this lately.

Both Porter and Warren are risky, but picking between the two I think I go for Warren, might be riskier but higher ceiling.

weird idea given rumors, etc.: think we could get the two martins to split the mini MLE? to play together in la? would be funny.

You're not signing him to be Wiggins athletically, right?

What you're signing him for is to play the Danny Green role: shoot well and defend.

They need his gravity more than his athleticism.

OPJ is still a good team defender, but in terms of point of attack defense he's cooked. Overall, I would still want him.

Idk if Mo is taking $6 million.

We can debate Porter @ 6 million.

    Monk might get more elsewhere.

Wondering if we can split the MLE for two decent wings? And which ones?

We can't sign and trade for anybody, we are already only 6 million under the hard cap as it is, without signing any new contracts.

Porter Jr seems to be more hype than substance at more than the mini.

People keep saying signing Blake is like a DJ type signing. It's completely different though, because Blake has the ability to stretch the floor, which is exactly what we need at the 5. He would be a solid signing with the vets minimum.

Whoah, I’m just finding out that free agency is starting earlier than usual!

I had assumed July 1st, ie midnight Eastern tonight (or 9 PM Pacific), but it’s actually starting today June 30th at 3 PM Pacific!

Good for him. The situation is kind of like when you want to break up with your significant other, but you don't want to hurt their feelings. But then you are relieved when she breaks up with you lol. With that being said, I am in favor of signing Monk at 3pm. Loyalty means a lot. Not only will Monk help our team, but it will look good on us as an organization.
