This would be an absolutely no brainer, basketball-wise. KD has many more productive years left than LeGM and we don’t even have to get into the advantages of Irving over Westbrick on the court.

I actually think the Nets would entertain the idea if things blow up. The risk is that if word gets out (and it will) that the Lakers offered up Lebron in trade, and the nets ultimately ended up declining…. All hell will break loose with the Lakers

I’ve been pretty anti- John Wall but I guess i don’t mind us kicking the tires if he’d come for the minimum.

    From Stein today...

    Wall buyout talk
I'll gladly take a chance on him for the min as a bought out former Rocket. I'd prefer that to trading Russ + picks for Kyrie, especially when you're going to have to turn around and lock up Kyrie to a long term deal. Then we worry less about getting a guard back in a Russ trade. Combined Wall + Nunn should give you 82 (combined. Key word).

    Brunson and the Knicks
Tucker to Philly seems like a done deal
Dame not being discrete in his desire to play with KD in Portland
Don't blame him at all. The team can't get him a top tier player, so he has to do the leg work. They have no room to get mad at him for being a public with it either. If they say anything, he can counter with, well, I could...I should leave.

Would Dame be penalized for tampering?

If the Lakers are fooling the media like Stein that’s this is actually gonna happen, they’re doing their job. If they aren’t, well, you won’t see me here next season

Kind of think the Lakers are going to have this hard stance on not giving up assets with Russ as long as they can. They either will give in or another team will, but I can't see them moving forward with him on the team.

Look, I would actually welcome the guy. I don't begrudge him his vaccine issue, think some of his ideas indicate he is a nut job but I could care less. He is a great basketball player and needs to be convinced to play. Truth is, we will likely gave another round of covid down the road, Covid 21??? If he continues to NOT want to take a vaccine, I will forgive him because I understand that some people don't want to take it. I have taken them myself but still have my doubts about it all. It is what it is, do we want him knowing that there will likely be some times where he is not going to play over it?? I think I take my chances on it. But, don't really care all that much as I can also understand your point of rebuilding this with smaller pieces, fill the slots. I don't really care that much, other than thinking WE would be stupid to go sign this guy for a max deal and multiple years. Rather have that remain the Nets problem. If we can get him temporarily for cheap, count me in. When Lebron retires or moves on, so can he. All good with me.

I just think it points out that he is a propensity to be knucklehead.

That’s so bold I’d have to chew on it. Still think you’d rather have an all time great big (When healthy) though

If this is true then yes we are out of the championship business with LeBron and yeah we need to trade him. You can’t preserve cap space for another star next offseason (who is worth waiting for anyway now?), and still win this season

    Laker drama is back baby!

    :Dwight Shaka:

Wonder if we bring back Dwight and Melo or not. Despite their age, they were a couple of bright spots this last off-season

No one should be surprised to see Westbrook back next season. Here is my reasoning on why:

For all of the talk of a lack of awareness or locker room trouble - no single player or coach has come out and said anything bad about Westbrook.

Which means he hasn’t poisoned his stay internally to the point that we have to move him.

He won’t opt out of 47m.

We won’t give away draft picks and/or take on bad long term money.

No one will give up anything of worth for him at his current contract.

It’s easier to let him expire than follow a mistake with another one.

I’ll be surprised. He needs to go, his contract makes it literally impossible to put anything around LeBron and AD other that one TPMLE contract and all minimums. You cannot win a title that way, can’t be done, you can’t find two-way players on minimum deals other than the occasional mid-season buyout ring chaser, you get one or the other. I also disagree that no one will give up anything of value for his contract, his contract IS his only value. It’s a massive expiring, it gives whoever trades for him tons of cap space this off-season. Expiring contracts get value all the time, and that’s all we need, to get 2-3 useful players for his contract, mid level salary players that we traded away to get him. Not having players like KCP and Kuz killed us.
