For the min, sure. Maybe he and Nunn can combine for 30 games.

no players have moved yet, which is weird. collins, brogdon, gobert, hayward, etc. was expecting at least one or two to move tonight.

helps us on the russ front as the teams with space get that used up and picks get made.

So with the draft and undrafted signings in the book, we resolved nothing for this upcoming season. Wing defense remains the priority. Come on down Otto Porter. Bigger role guaranteed.

Tried and failed with the whole 3 point thing in recent years. Please focus on D, size, motor, and energy.

Like in each player please. Don’t be going out and getting Ellington to solve the shooting and then getting Avery Bradley for defense.

Well, you kind of need shooting with a 4 out 1 in system.

Kind of hard to get away from that.

    We'll see. Shrugs.

yeah, 3 point shooters come here to die. no point in making that the focus of the offseason when any shooter they sign will struggle

this team needs defense more than anything

Maybe we should try the opposite and get non shooters who suddenly start shooting 40+%. Seeing as any shooter we seem to sign forgets how to shoot.

Tired of the lakers finding 3 point shooters. Just find players that actually play defense and work hard. Dont even watch games anymore cuz practically whole league is now a 3 point contest. Not even a well rounded game anymore.

We should simply sign Kyrie for the tMLE. This will result in Durant requesting a trade, and we can then send Russ to the Nets. The Nets can rebuild and we can have the greatest BB circus ever seen in LA. With those 4 stars, we can be almost sure that we’ll have at least one available to play at all times.

i've jokingly said this a few times, but i'm only half-joking. let's stop prioritizing shooting and just get guys who are smart and defend and count on lebron and AD to get them shots they can't get elsewhere.

    You have to prioritize shooting.

The problem hasn't been the prioritizing, it has been getting old farts that struggle defensively.

Wayne Ellington shot 39% from 3- but was 34 and a liability on defense
Avery Bradley shot 39% from 3- but was 31 and plays too slow
Carmelo Anthony shot 38% from 3, made over 2 a game- but was 37 and never a good defender

Trevor Ariza was 36 and washed up

The two somewhat young guys were Malik Monk and Kendrick Nunn. Monk shot 39%, made over 2 a game as well but has a long ways to go to be adequate defensively. Nunn missed the whole season.

We still need to prioritize shooting but it needs to be with youth and defensive ability in mind.

if i have to pick one, i pick defense and hope the shooting shows up when i need it. we won a lot more that way in the past.

You can't unfortunately, not with just a MLE and minimums in tow.

No, you still have no choice but to choose shooting, but YOUTH needs to be the way to go so you can teach them to be good defenders. At least guys under 30.....

I have no idea who you are referring too in the past that we prioritized defense and signed for a minimum contract that worked out....

Your defensive center can do that at that price (since spacing centers are more in demand and there are always old-school ones left on the market) but there isn't going to be any minimum "defensive first" wing players (that we sorely need) to be had....

    You need 2-way players.

Unfortunately, shooting in this league is at a premium, and as you've guys noted, we're stuck with minimums: we get the Wayne Ellington's of the world that just don't have the size to defend.

Monk was an excellent value signing, OTH. He popped off screen and while locked on defensively, and can take over a game scoring and had some gravity on the court.

Let's try to find a happy medium. You can't go all in on defense and have 12 defensive minded guys who can't shoot while your playing 4 out offense and spacing is crucial.

Let's see how we build this out...

not really sure what's being argued. we have to all agree that guys who are excellent shooters and defenders simply aren't available for the vet min. thus, it's a matter of which you hang your hat on. i choose defenders, particularly given that we have two superstars on the roster who can generate offense by sheer force of will.

    I see your point.

I do think we'll be off to a good start re-signing Austin and Stanley. Cheap multi-positional defenders who aren't a liability offensively.

    We shall see...
