i remember when odom threatened to join miami for the mid-level in the middle of the title years (i think). iguodala did the same thing, threatening to take a big cut for houston because gs was reticent.

anyway, this is why you don't get in bed with kyrie. there's every reason to want him to sign an incentive-laden, short-term contract, but he's got you over a barrel precisely for the same reason you want that contract: he's mentally unstable.

If I'm the Nets, I call Kyrie's bluff. And if he does take the MLE from us, well, then he really is a legit psychopath.

If they do that and KD demands out, they need to streamline a 30 for 30.

it's obvious we're being used as bait by Kyrie's agent, but you can never discount something like that from Kyrie

KD has like 4 years left on his deal. What's he gonna do, pull a Simmons? He's too much of a hooper for that.

Right. This is every concern about Kyrie wrapped into one big mess.

All of the Kyrie rumours is just negotiating tactics. Kyrie wants max money with max years. The nets probabaly only want to give him 2 years fully guaranteed and a partial guarantee on year 3. They’ll meet in the middle because the other option is they blow the team up.

But they’re too close to being a contender to do that.

    Kyrie/Mills
    Harris/Curry
    Durant/Brown
    Simmons/PF
    C/Claxton

They’re a few nimble defensive big men away from being a real power house. Simmons with that many shooters and two of the best isolation players in Durant and Kyrie is a lot of fire power.

I have no idea with these kids today, the safe bet is that, they are going to take the most money they can get. I imagine that Brooklyn wants some kind of stipulations around his vaccination staus but I'm not sure if that violates the CBA in some kind of way. I just want to see some action, a feeding frenzy, the more chaos the better! Kyrie ending up here though? Longest of the long shots IMO.

I think our offer of THT, Nunn + 1st was definitely better.

Antetokounmpo will prevent that pick from being worth anything. Even if they valued cap space THT could've been flipped and I doubt Nunn opts-in in f***ing Ohio.

I know Grant leaked that he wants a bigger role offensively than he would've had here, but if you get him in the building you can change his mind and lay out a clear, big role for him. That's what Dr Buss would've done. Got him here and changed his mind.

These guys on expiring deals, have a lot more say so about where they get traded than the media likes to admit too. We often look at trades from the perspective of what's a good deal for the team. However it usually ends up being the best deal they could get, from a team that the player wanted play for.

I agree and don't understand at the same time. Ayton on a bad team is going to be an awful signing. He couldn't even play on a "contender" when it mattered. What's he going to do in Detroit other than end up being another Griffin or Jordan for them? Just another big they're left paying after the inevitable buy out.

THT cooking on a bad team would have bumped his value enough for them to get another asset for him this summer.

Had they taken our deal when we offered in Dec-Feb, they would have a 1st, another asset aquired from a THT flip, and still be in the same financial position to overpay Ayton or to go after Brunson this summer.

Yeah I wish we could’ve gotten Grant last mid season.
