I’d expect us to be interested in Bamba or Harris if we are looking at Magic guys. I don’t hate the thought of Ross but I prefer keeping THT to him.

bamba would have to be an s&t, and i don't see us doing that.

i don't see many possibilities with orlando for us. if ross is coming this way for THT, we better be getting a lot more than chuma okeke along with him. i'd start with both their second rounders and actually ask for a future 2nd, too. ross was worse than THT and is older with basically no upside.

    hard pass.

I wouldn't trade THT for Ross either but you can't compare his percentages to Russ. Russ is a guy that no one guards so all of his looks from three are open. He has the worst gravity in the league.

Ross's shot quality is at the other end in the minuses.

yeah, that's true. still, pretty much no way i can be talked into ross. now if russ was leaving, i'll help ross pack his boxes. but this would be for THT.

The reporting was that we turned it down though. The report was Wall and Wood for Westbrook THT and the pick. That’s what got me bummed about that at the time. Who knows though really?

We just need health from AD and LBJ.

If we don't get that, everything else doesn't matter.

Also Russ shot a career high from corner three's last year.

    Think he's turning a corner

hmmm...guess i misremembered. but yeah, we don't have the details. maybe they wanted limited protection on the pick or something.

in other news, lots of teams are chasing turner, including maybe phx in an ayton trade, so we're WAY out of that one.

Yeah I’m very dubious that we can compete to get Turner. That’s seemed unrealistic all the way. I do think we might try the Westbrook for Brogdon and Heild swap later before the deadline depending on how things go with Russ fitting in or not with Ham.

i still think that if some of these teams have a bad year, westbrook's contract is going to look great, and some team like, say, the knicks, are going to have to give us picks on top of what we asked for at the last deadline.

I agree, by the deadline when the pretenders are clearly identified, Russ's contract will be attractive. Got to tough it out until then.

Especially if Ham and Sheed can somehow get through that thick, self unaware skull of his how he needs to play this year to both be at least incrementally more effective for the team AND for his next contract ... which is going to be one hell of a rude awakening if he doesn't. Then at the deadline ship his a** out.

What will teams be willing to pay for Brick per year going forward? Has any max "superstar" (in his own mind now only) player as young as him that's been healthy ever had to take the kind of a cut in pay he is likely going to have to eat?

Yes, that's what pisses me off. They give nothing to get a very serviceable guy. They couldn't even get Kleber/Powell and Josh Green, who at least had some trade value/future. They got 4 untradable scrubs and a 26th pick who's kind of useless.

I can't believe they didn't ask around the league for more so my guess is we didn't want to give THT? I would love to get an inside of that, would have a very arguable decision

Yep, that trade is awful. We need to be very careful trading our 2 only assets, Russ and THT (Nunn is more of a nice filler, nobody will be actually looking to trade for him)
It's not like this team is Ross away of becoming a real contender. He would be a good addition but not at that price, nor even with Harris together. We would have to get picks our away. And for salary filler we would probably need to give Nunn, so definitely not a big leap.
We need to use these assets carefully, we also need to bring someone that fits AD post-Lebron, I'm tired of all-ins every season a la LeGM, we need to think on the future of the franchise

This is a good take. Russ can really become a valuable asset, especially because there's always teams on that 12th spot limbo where pushing to play 2 play-in games to face the #1 seed is not worthy and they really want to move on. I see the likes of Kings, Knicks, Atlanta, Pelicans, Portland, Washington, Indiana or Charlotte all possible to end up there and to want to blow it up and start fresh. That's a lot of teams. Imagine if we get Dame, the US would explode lol

I think he gets 3y/50 or 60M. Totally agree he is in a tough spot and needs to play to stay relevant in the NBA. Not sure he believes he's in that spot, he's actually more likely to be thinking he's still worth near the max lol

definitely in my mind. if portland's bad again, he's out. it will be a matter of whether portland wants cap relief or bodies and whether they care about where dame wants to go. feel like we'd be a major player there. miami can't get everyone.

maybe from us if he opts out this summer to help us get full MLE money. but nobody is offering that this summer or next, period. imagine trying to sell that to fans right now.

The season will be over before they play game one IF they can’t move him this summer.

i mean, the only concrete offer we've heard for russ is russ/1st for wall. the season's over if we trade him, too.

Rasheed won't do s*** for the team.

On topic, this thread don't even matter if AD or LBJ aren't healthy.

Why are we even posting in here?

i don't know if that's a bit, but i viewed 20-21 as a much better season than 21-22, and getting the right players around lebron and AD can help you float if and when one of them is out.

we had a much better team two years ago. let's get back to that before worrying about more titles.
