Handy is amazing as a player development coach. He's sensational, I would not mess with that. I would hand him Reaves, Monk, Gabriel, Johnson, he can be incredibly valuable for our team from that standpoint.

I thought about that ahah I imagine the interview to be like:
RP: Hey Griffin, how are you? Family good?
    G: yeah, all good
RP: great, so what can you tell me about Nick?

The HoopsHype team off-season podcast talked a bit about Charlotte's coaching search and since we're linked to several of the same names, here is the convo...

Makes sense about them factoring in Ball with a potential MDA hire and why they might go younger. Maybe a decade ago that makes sense, but he's old for that team. But him coaching Philly is perfect for my hatred of that team. Not sure Embiid wants to play that style though. I support that, just as long as it doesn't mean Doc in LA.

No, we won't. That's my point that guys like Nurse and Snyder are not in the cards for us. Not until their teams become lotto-bound and they are headed out of town.

Good thing Nick Nurse is a lock or I might be worried we were going to mess this up.

yeah, it's ridiculous. i want to hear one successful former coach come on a podcast and be like: here's why the lakers should rearrange everything to make russ comfortable and successful.

it all rode on russ adjusting, and he's been quite clear that his full intention was for literally anyone but russ to adjust.

“I really need you to shoot pull up elbow jumpers off the top of the backboard at least once per game, Russ. That’s the secret to our success.”- Frank Vogel (probably)

He got axed because they needed a fall guy which most of the NBA feels to be the case but you got to protect your boy no matter what. Westbrook stunk for at least 2/3 of the season, actually more, and you could see it in James’s body language after some of his horrible plays. He and Klutch f****** wanted him traded at the deadline.

Frank was subpar last season too, that had nothing to do with Westbrook. Lets see which NBA team will be in a hurry to hire Frank next, since he has this vast pity party going on. Lol..I don't really care about Lebron's body language, he's 38 years old next season, and FWIW AD is Klutch too. I'll roll with what AD thinks over Lebron moving forward. The franchise should too. However both of their a**** need to show up to work next season. Haven't changed my opinion on that either.

Good for you, it was obvious to everyone else too we need them healthy but Russ had plenty of chances to be Russ with LeBron seated for rotations and out with injuries and he still stunk. Plus all the other injuries at the start and Nunn gone the whole season and crap at the start for wing defense and yeah Vogel forgot how to make lemonade out of the sauerkraut he was left to deal with.

The life of an NBA coach...win or get fired, that's kind of how it goes. My man has a ring though, few get to claim that distinction, so I'm not crying over him getting canned. The Bron centric team wasn't all that hot last season without AD either. It's the duo we need on the court. I think you guys are leaning too hard into the gloom and doom stuff. I look forward to next season myself.

No gloom and doom here as long as Brick doesn’t ever suit up for this team again. Just waiting to see what happens going forward and needing the team to be watchable and competitive. Have never been the ring is the only thing since too much every year is the crap shoot of health. If those two guys are healthy in the playoffs and we get anything useful at all for Brick we’ll have a puncher’s chance.

One thing I have not heard discussed and that is the absolute FACT that Jeanie wants it known that Phil is involved in this is to add a certain je ne sais quoi to the overall process. No one knows Phil is involved unless she tells them. I don't know if she thinks coaches are gonna go "Ooooh Phil Jackson is thinking about little ol' me?" and put a larger value on the title or what. Let's face it, the position has taken some knocks since the PJ days. In 41 years we had Riley and PJ for 20 of those and not a damn thing else. And don't start with Del Harris puhleez.

So... it's going to be a double whammy. They will bring in some moron AND keep Brick under the pretense that Frank simply couldn't make it work because of his ineptitude.

    Sell the goddamn team already.
