Lakers Coaching Search Discussion: Going Ham?

Linda thinks we should hire Becky Hammon.

If things go well next year with a revitalized squad, she would be the first female head coach in the NBA, and potentially the first champion female head coach.

But I heard her stares linger a little too long in the locker room while the team gets dressed. #awkward.....

 

I'll even overlook his weird obsession with Avery Bradley lol

 

Guess that's us admitting we can't get Nurse so we're going to ask the guy next to him what Nurse would do in X scenario.

Hmmm... maybe it's just a conversation to ask if he knows Nurse's home phone number. If we hire him, our reasoning behind forcing Kidd as an assistant vs. giving him the head coaching gig looks dumb.

yeah, i don't get why handy's name hasn't been floating around more. especially given his connection with lebron

aside from snyder and wright (nurse who isn't coming here) the only names that interest me are ham and cassell. the rest are a bunch of the usual coaching retreads who they need to stay far away from

 

Why can't these idiots marry women that aren't going to trigger them to want to throw them off a boat in the pacific ocean?

 

Why would any head coach who is comfortable where they are want to come here where the seat is automatically hot and the stars run the show? Nurse is taken care of in Canada, why would he want flakey town USA? Our only choices are out-of-work coaches or assistants.

 

Any coach worth their salt would have to be given things we haven't shown we are willing to offer in a mighty long time. With regards to Nurse, even though he's not coming, it would be a way for Klutch to maintain some power as Bron loses some of his and ultimately leaves.
A top coach will have to be:
- overpaid
- given a long term contract
- able to pick their staff
- have control over starters and rotations (front office not tying their hands with promises or having to ask them if you can bench a player)
- promised that Kurt will stay out of coaches meetings
- given an indication of front office stability (if they think Rob is 1 and done, the next GM will want to pick their guy)

Can we do that?... Are we willing to do that?

 

LOL she played in the WNBA, read between the lines. Would love Becky though just for laughs let’s see if they run through a wall for her or ignore her regardless of her historic gender hire. Pop would dissuade her for sure.

Klutch and Lebron approve of Ham. Plus he's worked with the team before so they're familiar with him. He was part of MDA's 2012-2013 staff so I think he has some knowledge on how to be around big personalities.
