eh, same as last year. they'll find some sucker to take ariza and terrence jones (and probably give them a pick), then they'll have max money. i only hope it blows up on them again...
I wonder who will bail them out of all their contracts in order to make a run at a max fa I think that even if they drop ariza and renounce their rights to some of their guys they'd only have 11-12 mil to spend i dont think thats enough
If they want to give up the #18 with Ariza or T. Jones, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to helping them strike out again.
I agree he's unproven and coming off an injury... so where's his trade value right now? I'm not afraid of him being lost in any sort of positional limbo. If Draymond Green can slide between positions, I think Julius Randle (who is immensely more talented) can figure it out. The league is moving away from traditional position concepts anyway. Bottom line is, I'm not trading Randle until I see what I have. I'd much rather go into the season with him, see if he's as great as the Lakers believe he'll be, and make a decision from there. If you move him now, you trade him at the worst time to get a return on him. Why not wait? What's the harm in waiting? Will having a veteran PG in November make us significantly better than Randle? I don't think so. If you really must trade Randle (which won't happen) then you do it at the deadline once you've seen him play for a while.
I've heard the 18th pick is going to Tyus Jones if he's there (they'll let Beverely walk @RandleROFY called it). Ariza is making around 8 million dollars.
Let them sign Love to an anchor contract. He is not going to put a team over the top. LMA on the other hand would give them consistent scoring late in the post. That would be huge with Harden. Howard can't give you consistent half court anything.
This implies that ALL teams make rational decisions at trade time. If that were the case there would be no busts and no bad trades. If you could take advantage of a team who has an irrational view of Randle for an advantage I'd do it. Risk with rookies is always huge. You have to weigh it individually. Waiting to see what you have is also letting everyone else see what you have. You see potential and talent in his lack of a position, I see that as a weakness in this league. The PF slot is traditionally one of the easiest to fill on a roster. Getting a top flight point guard is one of the hardest. If an opportunity came along to sign a top flight veteran PF and trade Randle for a PG I'd jump. Consistent battle tested low post scoring is very rare in this league and LMA can do it with the best. I wouldn't do any of this for Love however.
Not really. I think there's a way where we trade Young, Kelly, our #27, and probably Sacre to clear up almost enough room, but it's really really really close.
I was curious to see how the Spurs cap situation was in these LMA sweepstakes..... Parker - 13.4 Duncan - 15.5 (Cap hold) Splitter - 8.5 Diaw - 7.5 Ginobili - 10.5 (Cap hold) Mills - 3.6 Kawhi - 4.4 (QO) Anderson - 1.1 Spurs 1st rounder - 1 Total - 65.5 Not included - Danny Green and Marco Belinelli cap holds and QO for Aron Baynes, Cory Joseph Currently - Nowhere near the space to get LMA What they need to do - Dump Splitter and renounce Tim Duncan and Manu That would give them - ~34 million dollars total with cap holds Max for LMA is 18.9 = 15.1 left for Timmy and Manu to split. Or 6.6 if they can't get rid of Splitter. End result - I think they can just squeeze LMA in at max and pay Tim 10 and Manu 5. That would assume they don't pick up the QO for Aron Baynes, Cory Joseph, let Green and Belinelli walk and stash their 2nd rounder. They would be gutting a lot of their team to get LMA, which doesn't seem very Spurs like, but who knows.
Kobe 25 Randle 3 Nick young 5.2 Rkelly 1.8 Clarkson 845k Black 845k Sacre 981 k 48 mil Lamarcus 18-19 might work Didnt add the #2 pick salary so not sure but i think it does if we trade the right pieces
I believe it. The main key for the Spurs is they need to dump Splitter. That would solve a lot of problems. Here's hoping that they come nowhere close to accomplishing that.
If kobe does this for us that would be great! If our young guys pan out theres nothing better than having a guy like kobe mentoring them
They'd make around 27M combined. We have around 23M in space right now. We'd have to clear around 4M to make it possible. Dumping Kelly/Sacre/#27 should do it.
