Interesting exchange. If it doesn't cost the Lakers a first round pick and we only give up Russ to get Kyrie for a 1+1 I would do it.

that'd be a dream scenario but i can't see brooklyn doing that and i doubt kyrie wants to play with lebron again

funny how when kyrie becomes considered a bad contract, all of a sudden charlotte trading rozier/hayward for russ is a smart move. just as long as the lakers don't get rozier/hayward, i guess.

Just as long as we don't get Hayward. On another note, Kyrie has been in the league for 11 years and has only played in 70 games or more 3 times.

yeah, he's a huge risk on many fronts, and i've never been very interested. i'd rather rozier/hayward.

Maybe Russ for Simmons and then flip Nunn/Tucker for Wood or Turner.
We'd have a similar Lebron/AD combo, kind of sorta.

I don’t see why Brooklyn would want any combo of pieces from the Hornets or Russ. Reuniting KD and Russ??? LOL!!!!!
I like Kyrie’s game but I want to steer clear of dudes with long injury histories. Plus, LeBron is still here.
    Simmons??? LOL!!!!

Simmons is young and he can still be traded later. Kawhi quit on his team won a chip for it.

Quitters are quitters. Compromise your principals for short glory is why these teams have s***ty seasons more than good.

i get why ox and others wouldn't want simmons, but i'd trade westbrook for him before they had time to reconsider. why? on the court, simmons's biggest issue might be that he doesn't want the star role. that's very ok here! and again, he defends! yay! if he has the yips, you situationally sub him out on offense like he's shaq or deandre jordan in key moments. but for 35 other minutes, he's 6'10" and faster and more agile than the opposing team's guards. imagine him and AD with a couple bucket makers and a floor general pg.

anyway, they'd never make that trade. they won't trade kyrie, either, imo.

slick's point about kawhi is good, too. he's performed a couple times on the big stage, but his career has been a lot of sitting out and a lot of weird isolation from his teams. i get it--when he's on, he's like the basketball version of the terminator. but that's so rare, and he's such a pain in the a**. yet you don't hear anything about him. no "mr. glass" stuff, no "he's hard to get along with" stuff--even though both seem to be objectively true.

Yeah I do not want Kyrie. Dude could sign a max contract and then the next day wake up and say he doesn’t want to play anymore because it’s unethical to play on murdered trees and with a dead cow skin, and we’re all steeple that need to wake up and see the reality.

Don’t want Simmons either, guy just proved he will sit out an entire season if he doesn’t feel like playing, absolutely zero loyalty to a contract signed for a JOB, AND he sued to try to get the money didn’t pay him for not doing his job. A lot of modern players are clowns.

None of these scenarios will play out.

    Fun to talk about, though.

Especially since we're out of the PO's...

Yeah, there's been two rumors he's considered retirement in the past few seasons. I don't think he gives one s*** about his team or teammates. He likes to hoop but doesn't love the NBA and wouldn't miss it if he never played another game as long as it was on his terms. That's a dangerous player to have around.

I'm just being pragmatic about it. The narrative changes around players, based off of what happens on the court. Simmons is 25 years old, pair him with AD and another stretch 4/5 like Wood or Turner, that's a Championship caliber team. That's the bubble team 2.0. Long, fast, defensive talented, and can still play small ball with the best small ball teams. If we won a chip, nobody would give a damn about what Simmons did in Philadelphia.

I don’t typically agree with Stephen A, as in like almost never, but I think he’s right here. I forgot Simmons did that to LSU also. Maybe I’d have some sympathy for him if he didn’t try to go get that money he didn’t earn by voluntarily sitting, but he’s full of it for trying. You don’t get to sit out a year just because your teammates and coach talked s*** and hurt your feelings

Ouch! The Ben Simmons rule haha.

From above, I can't imagine KD wanting to play with RW again. Can't see that happening. I don't think Kyrie wants to play with Lebron either.

Neither one can carry a franchise any longer, so I'm not sure I see the point. Both will probably be lucky to play 50 games next year.

But the Kyrie interviews could be fun if certain things happen next year with the hokey pokey, etc.
