with how slow things have been moving along, i think it was a given there would be a season 2 really hope they do one about the 3peat teams
Ugh. All James Worthy had to do was just in bound the ball right. Lakers would have won Game 2 and the title later that week.
the lakers handed that series to boston. they were by far the better team but made the biggest mistakes at the worst times and that was enough
This one was kind of slow, a few funny moments though "Get him the eff off the stage" The Richard Pryor actor was kind of wack.
Agreed. I still enjoyed the episode, but I had the same feeling as I did during the Michigan segments of episode 3, i.e. "lets get moving already." I also agree regarding Richard Pryor. That was the first instance in this show where I really just wasn't buying it.
Worst one by far. I wish they would stop showing so much crap about the females in Magic's life. You can show that without wasting 10-15 min of the show on them. If that Nike offer was real, man, Magic really screwed that one up. $5.8 billion. I know hindsight is 20/20 but damn, that one has to sting.
yeah that was the most boring episode for sure. i do wonder if westhead was that much of a weirdo in real life though i'm guessing this season is only going to cover the 79-80 season, because man is it moving slow
Now we are talking, f*** Boston ! This is the golden years of basketball here. I miss the showtime 80s Lakers.
Obviously the first season only covers 79-80. And I’m cool with that, there’s lots of interesting things to go over, losing a coach, the gambling nature of Dr Buss willing to bet it all, the dynamic between the team, Pat Riley coming forward, Bird vs Magic. And of course they have to spend time on Magic’s womanising. The story starts and ends with it really. I think they could do 3-5 seasons to cover the full decade. Would be super great to see a young Michael Jordan come in the last season.
Last night's episode was a thing of beauty. I have so much hate for Boston coursing through my veins. Seeing those guys chanting "f#&k Boston!" in the huddle was like heroin. I also really like the way they continue to flesh out the Magic/Kareem dynamic. Two guys who are totally alien to one another, seemingly coming from two different worlds, figuring out how to balance their skills and personalities to make it work. I thought the conversation between Kareem and Earvin Sr. was so insightful. Particularly the way Kareem couldn't put together how a black man in America could seem so unfazed by all the malice and brutality he'd encountered and endured. I also love the Riley evolution and the way the show keeps reminding you how far this guy still has to go. I look forward to this show all week.
This Boston game is actually fictitious since they actually blew out the C Bags in Boston but dramatic license is needed to push the show along
The more I watch though, the less I like it. The dramatization is unneeded and, at times, borderline offensive. It just becomes schlocky. I am pretty sure this could have been an amazing series without all the... I am especially peeved at Dr. Buss and West portrayals. And Chick. --- And some things are just... what was the point of self-circumcision mini-arc...?
what exactly do you not like about how buss is portrayed? and from what i've heard, the way west and chick are portrayed isn't really that far off. keep in mind that this entire series is based off a book written about the showtime era. and also keep in mind who is directing it and that it is hollywood
Too scammy and horny. He sure had bimbos, but to the point that he had a clipbook? BS. And no, multiple people have come out to say that West was nothing like that. I am also quite positive Chick wasn't a drunk control freak. I would love to see an ounce of evidence on that one. Bird as a tobacco chewing redneck? He is from rural Indiana, sure, but all accounts depict him as shy with dry wit, not the monosyllabic misanthrope
That stupid self- circumcision thing has to do with shock value. Every series created now has to have something in your face, just to one-up the lewdness factor. I could go on, but I won’t. It’s the same with all the random sex flashbacks intertwined throughout the first four episodes that didn’t add to the story whatsoever. I almost stopped watching the entire series because of it.
