Think he has potential with some good assistants.

Think he's an "associate" head coach in GS...that's what Crsnjis said

That's where I got the names from the assistants I mentioned. Was listening to Crsnjis Pod and keep up with him throughout the season and you see the assistants he mentioned. Gives you more familiarity.

Either way, hope we really step outside our comfort zone.

i just don't see what brooks has done to distinguish himself. give someone new a try. note that snyder and nurse are interesting because they haven't failed in multiple spots like the retread candidates. we need to learn from past mistakes here.

i get that they might feel burned by walton, but a) they got a little too jazzed by his laker ties (imo), and b) he had a series of awful teams to coach (both here and in sac). the guy coming in this time has lebron and AD, at the very least. so i don't think this is the same as bringing in an inexperienced coach with inexperienced players and unfair expectations.

I’m a big fan of Alex Jensen, glad to see he’s in consideration.

Not really, I never heard of dude until now.

But I’d find it so much easier to get excited about an assistant coach I’ve never heard of than pretty much every other “big name” candidate we’ve heard (well, aside from maybe Nurse and Snyder).

A few years ago we made Jason Kidd one of the highest paid assistants in the league.

I'd really like to see Stotts in this staff as an offensive coordinator.

His defense sucks, but he really runs some high level stuff offensively.

    Open the wallet.

ironically, i thought stotts did great in portland. i feel like they consistently played over their talent level. and he's got lots of experience as a lead assistant. would take. but let's not force him onto someone a la kidd in the lue/vogel situation. seems like that's not how business is typically conducted.

Nick Nurse is so checked out.

I believe he has 2 years left on his contract I wonder if we will trade picks to get him.

I dont think its out there and they might be possibly extinct, but any veteran coach that can command the respect of those 3 stars.

Brooks, Nurse are all going to be push overs. When Russ, Lebron, AD plays bad we need a coach that will hold them responsible, not create excuses for them.

Every vogel post game inteview I was just waiting for him to call out Russ, to just acknowledge that he's seeing what the rest of the world is seeing.

edit: I apologize for my grammer and in advance for future errors. lol

Even more important than who the coach is, they need the backing of the front office to do what needs to be done and not just be another Lebron a$$ kisser/cheerleader. If Lebron is our main ball handler next season we will have the same result. Lebron could still be a great player but only if chooses the team route. He was more responsible for our crappy season than Russ was. I only say that because Lebron chose to be how he is, right now Russ just sucks and doesn't appear to have the Bball IQ to change. We can't have a guy wanting to score so bad he shuts down the offense and then plays no defense. He can catch Kareem and still win games.

I think the game and players have changed too much. I love Phil, he's my favorite coach in the history of the game, so even with that I'm in 100%. Physically he can't do it anymore. Unless they're going to let him coach practice and road games from Zoom and get a seat even taller and more comfortable than his previous throne for home games, it's just not realistic.

I think they could offer him a more official advisory role. No travel. Some appearances in the box. My concerns with his relationship the modern game still exists, but anything to dilute the Rambii voice.

    Regarding Phil…

“A TMZ reporter caught up with Jackson and his fiancee, Lakers governor Jeanie Buss, and told the basketball legend that many people believe he'd be more effective as the Knicks head coach.

Jackson replied: "Probably so. But I can't do it ... It's not part of the contract, it's part of my physical capabilities."

The "physical capabilities" he is referring to undoubtedly relate to his history of knee problems. Jackson underwent successful knee replacement surgery in March of 2012, one year after his final season coaching the Lakers.

Earlier this season, the 68-year-old Jackson made it clear during an extended interview with his former player (and current NBA TV personality Rick Fox) that those health problems were likely to keep him from ever coaching again:

Physically I have to reconcile the fact that I'm in a position where, after five operations in three years, four years...recovering from operations is difficult enough. When you're a kid, you can do it relatively easily, as we did when we were players, but at my age it takes a little bit more to recover from it. And then health becomes the priority.

Traveling, late nights, being up and down the court, which is really something that's important to me as a coach—I coached my last year from a bench at midcourt because I couldn't get up and down the court, and I knew it was time to leave.”

this was 8 years ago. Seriously doubt dude is coming back in any capacity
