I don't know. That 2nd workout with Okafor was very short. I always wondered why it ended quickly...

All the rumors are just getting nuts at this point.

Can't wait until we silence all the haters and grab Kristaps....

Honestly though I'm not buying that he somehow sucked all of a sudden or that it made much difference. They scouted him somewhere between 15 and 20 times last season in college from Laker reports, and they already brought him in once. I doubt that a second look would make a whole lot of difference at this point. I know what Ding said, but I don't buy it.

Man, the Spurs draft right before us. If Justin Anderson drops that far, they'll pick him up.

To not wind up at the end of all the dealings without Okafor would be a huge disappointment to me as far as offense. What he effortlessly gives you with near impossible to guard 1 on 1 and how we have the best teacher of playing with a dominant big man guard and other positions of course. So much less and more safe than the effort and exposure to getting hurt that Russell and Clarkson and Kobe have to expend to get even close to the efficiency Jahlil will provide.

But scarier to me is if we do not lock up Deandre Jordan then to be our defensive center. Who else can we get in FA that is big enough and defensively skilled enough with the level of athleticism needed is there for us in FA to deal with the "LOADS" such as Okafor, Cousins, Gasol, AD, etc, etc and the other very decent to good BIGS in the league for the next 10 years? At the least we need a defensive Stud BIG if we don't take Okafor. This just seems dumb to me, if "star power" is now factoring in. The skills Russell has handling the ball and passing for a small player are no more impressive to me or as impressive as watching Okafor at his beast size show in his technical skills. He's smooth as hell too just like wonder boy. Sorry. Will apologize to him later if he's a Laker. And then root like hell for him and enjoy what he brings of course.

If anything Portland might pick him up for insurance of Wes Mathews and Afflalo opting out,

You might now. However, Ding was on the Okafor bandwagon up until this morning. Matter of fact, he was on Time Warner about a week ago and was almost certain the Lakers would take Okafor. Before that he came out with another piece, reiterating the same thing. Weird, I know.

I think Mitch was looking for intensity. Mitch is on record saying he was really impressed with the inner fire Randle displayed in his workout playing 2-on-2. Maybe that's what Okafor lacked in his workout.

For all this Russell talk we're getting, almost every mock draft I've seen STILL has us going with Okafor. Vegas oddsmakers have it 66% chance we go Okafor (assuming Towns is gone) and 20% chance we go Russell...

I just don't think you can go Russell assuming we've got a big on the way in FA. I think you go Russell ONLY if you think he's the guy to build around over Okafor. You can't take this pick thinking about other pieces. You just take the kid you think will have the greatest chance of leading us to a Championship. If Mitch thinks it's Russell, I'll live with that. I think it's Okafor by a landslide, but I wasn't up close in their workouts/war room.

Definitely a possibility. I'll take Okafor's methodical approach though when it comes to post play. I think he definitely has a burning desire to win. He's shown it already. Dude is a champ. How did Russell's tourney go?

True, but Russell didn't have Coach K and Winslow and Jones with him either.

Yeah I can't imagine one bad workout (if that's even what happened) would negate everything they saw from him in the tourney/throughout the NCAA season.

Finally found a link to the whole thing. Russell on Sports Science is the second video.

    A few takeaways
    • Russell can identify targets in twenty-four hundredths of a second, the fastest reaction time ever recorded by Sport Science.
    • Russell can sling a pass up to 40 m.p.h., which is LeBron James territory.
    • When tested, Russell was able to "thread the needle," with 80% accuracy.

I said earlier Russell was carrying a team with no other NBA player. I guess someone could emerge next year, but that team just wasn't very good.
